Similar cast on technique as you use on a long tail cast on, but here we are holding two strands in different colors together. First make a slipknot to hold them together (the slipknot is untied when finished cast on), then pick up the sts alternating from the front strand, and from the back strand as shown in video.
Perfect start on a diagonal striped piece, like a cuff or hem.

DROPS Design :

Bonjour Camille, une fois que vos mailles sont montées, tricotez-les comme souhaitées (à l'endroit ou à l'envers) avec la laine de couleur de la maille sur l'aiguille, c'est-à-dire que vous allez tricoter alternativement 1 maille avec une couleur et l'autre avec l'autre couleur pour obtenir des rayures verticales. Bon tricot!

In this DROPS video, we show you how to work each front piece with diagonal shoulders and short rows, the piece is worked bottom up. Then we show how to increase stitches for the neckline and join the shoulders for the back piece, then continue working top down. An I-cord band is worked on each side. We have already worked one section of the front piece and decreased stitches for the neckline. The video shows how we work 6 short rows (German short rows) on the right front piece, creating a diagonal shoulder. Then we show how to increase 1 stitch 3 times towards the neckline, which is now the back piece. Then we show the same for the left shoulder and finally cast on 12 stitches between the shoulders before the shoulders are knitted together. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. This technique is used among other things in pattern DROPS 255-9, Driftwood Vest, with a different stitch count, number of short rows and cast-on stitches. In this DROPS video we show how you can cast on with two circular needles. We sometimes recommend this in our patterns to prevent the cast on edge being too tight. When you have cast on the required number of stitches, you pull out one circular needle and start to knit.
