Hi, In this demo video of How to knit a wave pattern, you have little crosses in the diagram to indicate KNIT. But the 3rd and 4th rows are blank, and in one you have to KNIT and the other you have to PURL. This is very confusing. I think a blank should always mean KNIT. Therefore, in Pattern 165/16 (Northern Wind), in Part A1, where there are many blank rows, I do not know when to Purl and when to Knit. Surely a cross or a blank should always mean the same thing no matter where they occur?

Dear Inge, the x in this video is a stitch worked K from WS, while the white squares are K from RS, P from WS (= stocking stitch). In this pattern; 1st row in A.1 is worked from WS = K from WS then next 2 rows with white squares = K from RS, P from WS, then on next row from RS work the lace pattern and continue like this following the diagram, in this pattern the "-" is for a K from WS (P from RS). Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Regarding M.1 shown in pattern Drops Baby 18 – 12, I understand you start by knitting 4 rows in garter stitch and then follow the M.1. Then, row 5 (first row of diagram) = k / row 6 (second row of diagram) = k / row 7 (third row of diagram) = k / row 8 (fourth row of diagram) = purl / row 9 (fith row of diagram) = decreases and YO / row 10 (sixth row of diagram) = purl. However, the wave pattern in this video is slightly different. Which one should I follow? Thanks!
03.03.2017 - 10:39DROPS Design :
Dear Tamara, the video is showing the technique, but this can be worked a different way, so remember to always follow diagram in your pattern. Happy knitting!
