I love this shawl but the instructions leave me stumped. At the end of R1 I have 1st over after the last k1. If I get the first row wrong, it will all end up wrong. Please help. Thanks.

DROPS Design 30.08.2018 kl. 13:22:

Dear Chris, Please keep in mind that the 2 yo count as 1 stitch. This way, you doo have 13 stitches in the 1st row. Hope you will be able to knit up this shawl. Happy Knitting!

Hi, I am knitting the Shepherd's gift shawl, but don't know what it means, where it says in R2, 'knit mid stitch'. could someone explain what that term means please? Thank you.

DROPS Design 27.08.2018 kl. 07:50:

Hi Chris, The mid stitch is the middle stitch on the row, which is knitted all the way through the pattern. Happy knitting!

Love Shepherds Gift Shawl in alpaca aran boucle. Is it knitted with 2 strands of yarn, and how many 50gram balls are required. Many thanks\r\n\r\nHilda Edwards

DROPS Design 27.08.2018 kl. 07:59:

Hi Mrs Edwards, You either knit with 1 strand Puddel or 2 strands Alpaca Boucle. You need 3 x 50g balls of Puddel or 3 x 50g balls of Alpaca Boucle. Happy knitting!

I am wondering why most of the patterns call for back and forth using circular needles as opposed to ordinary needles for flat knitting. Has it something to do with the tension? I'm currently knitting the DROPS felted bag in Alaska, I have arthritis and I am using straight needles for the strips as I can knit for longer without it being painful. I hope this won't affect the final outcome? I am loving the shades and feel of the yarn. Thank you

DROPS Design 28.09.2015 kl. 09:34:

Dear Chris, circular needle are often used to work back and forth to get enough room for all sts. You can then use straight needle, just remember to check your tension and make sure all sts will fit on the needle. Read more about this here. Happy knitting!
