I have completed the hat, but my finished product is tall and narrow while the one shown in the video is shorter and wider. The top of the hat sticks up when worn and does not slouch properly. Why do you think this might be? Is there a way I can fix this?

DROPS Design 20.01.2019 kl. 09:18:

Dear Sophia it is very important that you check, and adhere to to the knitting gauge/ tension that is given in the pattern. If your hat is too small, and it is stands up instead of slouching, your gauge is probably too small, meaning, you knit to thightly. If this is the case, you can correct it by using larger needles. You can also try to block out the hat that is already made (if you would try something before you frog it). Just soak it into lukewarm water and pull it over something (I often use a ball or an upturned bowl). I hope thishelps. Happy crafting!

Hi there! I'm stuck at the dec for row 8. After the dec for row 4 I got 64 stitches along with row 5,6 and 7. After doing the dec for row 8 I came up with 52 stitches. What am I doing wrong? I knitted 3 stitches then I k2tog. I do this until the end but my last 4 are knit stitches. Is this right? Help!

DROPS Design 12.12.2018 kl. 10:05:

Dear Upmyway90, on row 8 you have to decrease 13 stitches evenly (64-13=51 sts), you will find here how to decrease stitches evenly on a row. Happy knitting!

Kassie Kramer 10.12.2018 - 07:06:

Pam Hofer 14.11.2018 - 12:48:

Thank you so much for your quick response. I’m a fairly new knitter and this info will help tremendously.

Pam Hofer 14.11.2018 - 04:15:

How would you convert this to work in the round since you won’t be turning it around?

DROPS Design 14.11.2018 kl. 08:43:

Dear Mrs Hofer, you would have to work the double seed stitch pattern as follows: Round 1 & 2: K1, P1 - Round 3 & 4: P1, K1. The decreases at the top of hat are worked in garter stitch (= K1 round, P1 round) - adjust the decrease round so that they are done on a round with K sts. Happy knitting!

Jane Teta 07.09.2018 - 19:08:

I want to make this hat in a L/XL size. How. Do I get the change in number of stitches needed

DROPS Design 10.09.2018 kl. 08:37:

Dear Mrs Teta, this pattern comes in two sizes: S/M and L/XL. For the 2nd size, follow the 2nd number in the written pattern, ie cast on 88 sts to start. Happy knitting!

Theresa Nguyen 24.08.2018 - 09:30:

I've completed the 21cm of double moss st and I am stuck because I am not understanding the decreasing. Do I knit garter stitch 3 rows and on row 4 start decreasing like the video by knitting three and knit 2 stitches together? and continue on like this until row 20? I'd appreciate if you can explain further of this part. Thank you.

DROPS Design 24.08.2018 kl. 14:46:

Dear Theresa, you're right: when you reach 21 cm you have to start to work garter sts, and follow the instructions given so on row 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 you've to decrease as indicated. You can decrease as explained in the video by knitting 2 sts together. Happy knitting!
