CROCHET TIP: Replace first sc at beg of every round with 1 ch and finish every round with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round. Turn every row with 1 ch. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 sc by working 2 sc in second to last st in each side. CROCHET 2 SC TOG: Decrease 1 sc as follows: Insert hook in sc and pull thread through, insert hook in next sc and pull thread through, make 1 YO and pull thread through all 3 loops on hook. -------------------------------------------------------- SNOWMAN: Beg at the bottom of body and work 2 or 3 snowballs on top of each other in different sizes. Then crochet the hat, nose and scarf. Everything is crochet with 1 strand and hook size 2.5 mm/C. The snowman can be made with 2 or 3 snowballs on top of each other. 1ST SNOWBALL: Ch 4 with off white and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: 8 sc in ch-ring – see CROCHET TIP! ROUND 2: 2 sc in every sc = 16 sc. ROUND 3: * 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* = 24 sc. ROUND 4: * 1 sc in each of the first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* = 32 sc. ROUND 32: Work as round 3 = 24 sc. Work 5 rounds with 1 sc in every sc. ROUND 37: Work as round 18 = 16 sc. ROUND 38: Work as round 19 = 8 sc. Cut the thread. Fill with some cotton, sew the thread end around the opening and tighten tog. HAT FOR SNOWMAN WITH 2 SNOWBALLS: Ch 4 with black and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: 8 sc in ch-ring – see CROCHET TIP! ROUND 2: 2 sc in every sc = 16 sc. ROUND 3: * 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* = 24 sc. ROUND 3: 1 sc in every dc – NOTE: Only work the back loop on this round to get an edge where the crown of the hat ends. Continue working 4 rounds with 1 sc in every sc (working through both loops as usual). ROUND 8: Work 3 ch, then 2 dc in every sc the rest of the round = 32 dc. Cut and fasten the thread. Crochet a ch-row of 30 ch, fold it double and tie a knot at the bottom and pull it through the top of the hat. Fill some cotton in the hat and sew it to the top of the head. NOSE: Ch 4 with orange and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: 4 sc in ch-ring. ROUND 2-3: 1 sc in every sc. ROUND 4: Crochet the first 2 sc tog, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc = 3 sc. ROUND 5: Crochet the first 2 sc tog, 1 sc in next sc = 2 sc. Cut the yarn and fasten the nose at the middle of the head. FACE: Embroider eyes (and a mouth if you want) with black. SCARF: Ch 4 with orange, turn and work 1 sc in each of the 3 last ch. Continue to crochet stripes back and forth as follows: * 2 rows with black, 2 rows with orange *, repeat from *-* until the scarf measures approx. 20 cm / 8'', fasten off. Tie the scarf around the snowman's neck. |
