---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1 (applies to ears). CROCHET INFORMATION: On every round with treble crochet work 3 chain stitches at the beginning of round (do not replace first treble crochet on round). Finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch from beginning of round. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- PILLOW CASE - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Pillow case is worked in the round from the middle and outwards. Work in 2 parts that are worked tog at the end. Work ears from the tip of ears and inwards. Work eyes in the round. Work mouth and nose on pillow case. PILLOW CASE: Work the circle in the round in a spiral as follows (when 1st round has been worked, continue directly on to 2nd round without working chain stitches at the beginning of round, then continue in the round in a spiral): Work 4 chain stitches on hook size 4.5 mm with light grey Paris and form a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. ROUND 1: Work 2 chain stitches, 10 treble crochets around chain stitch ring. ROUND 2: Insert a marker thread at beginning of round. Move the marker thread upwards when working. Work 2 treble crochets in 2nd chain stitch at beginning of first round, 2 treble crochets in each of the next 10 treble crochets = 22 treble crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! ROUND 3: Work * 2 treble crochets in first treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in next treble crochet *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 33 treble crochets. ROUND 4: Work * 2 treble crochets in first treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 2 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 44 treble crochets. ROUND 5: Work * 2 treble crochets in first treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 55 treble crochets. ROUND 6: Work * 2 treble crochets in first treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 4 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 66 treble crochets. Continue to work like this, i.e. work 1 treble crochet more between every increase on round, until piece measures 44 cm in diameter. Finish round with 1 treble crochet, 1 half treble crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 slip stitch. Cut and fasten the yarn. Work another part the same way. Now work ears, eyes, mouth and nose before filling the pillow case and assembly. EARS: Work 4 chain stitches on hook size 4.5 mm with light grey and form a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Work pattern in the round according to diagram A.1. When A.1 has been worked vertically, continue in the round with 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet until ear measures approx. 8 cm – read CROCHET INFO. Place some cotton wool in the ear to make it fuller and soft. Fold the opening together so that is 2 layers and work through both layers as follows: Work 1 chain stitch, 1 double crochet in next treble crochet, continue with 1 double crochet in the remaining treble crochets until entire opening has been worked together. Cut the yarn but leave approx. 25 cm to fasten ear to pillow case. Work another ear the same way. Fasten ears in one and one stitch in a round that is approx. 7 cm inside outer edge on pillow case - see photo for ear placement. Fasten the other ear to pillow case so that there are approx. 27 cm between ears measured along the same round (= upwards towards head of sheep). EYES: Work 4 chain stitches on hook size 4.5 mm with dark grey Paris and form a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Work 3 chain stitches, 12 treble crochets around chain stitch ring. Switch to white Paris and work 3 chain stitch, work 2 treble crochets in each of the next 6 stitches. Fasten off. Work another eye the same way. Place eyes approx. 5 cm from where ears were sewn on - see photo for eye placement. Fasten them with small invisible stitches. NOSE AND MOUTH: Work nose and mouth with 2 strands dark grey. Work slip stitches by getting yarn from inside of pillow case and pulling it to front side of pillow. Begin in 7th round from centre on pillow case and in the middle of eyes and ears, so that nose and mouth are placed symmetrical - see photo for nose and mouth placement. Work with 2 strands as follows: Insert hook through a treble crochet from right side and get a loop from wrong side to right side of pillow case (= 1 loop on hook), * insert hook down in next treble crochet on round and get yarn from wrong side to right side and through loop on hook *, work from *-* along the same round until 7 slip stitches have been worked along the round, cut the yarn and fasten it on wrong side of pillow case. Work the same way in opposite direction from the first stitch worked for mouth. Cut and fasten the yarn. Now work from mouth and up to nose as follows: Begin in same stitch as start of mouth. Work slip stitch the same way around each of the next 4 rounds from mouth and in towards centre of pillow case (3 rounds now remain in to centre of pillow case). Turn and work nose outwards to one side, the same way as mouth was worked, until 4 slip stitches have been worked. Cut and fasten the yarn. Work the rest of nose the same way in opposite direction. ASSEMBLY: Place the 2 circles wrong side against wrong side and work through both layers with light grey Paris from right side as follows: Work 1 double crochet in first double crochet (around both layers), continue in the round with 1 double crochet in every stitch until an opening of approx. 20 cm remains. POMPOMS: Make pompoms with off white Snow. Make 5 pompoms of approx. 8 cm. Make 2 pompoms of approx. 5 cm. Fasten pompoms at the top of pillow case. ASSEMBLY: Place inlay pillow inside pillow case and work opening together through both layers as follows: Work 1 double crochet through both layers in outermost stitch until entire pillow case is worked together. Fasten off. |
