Men om du blötlägger vantarna igen, så kan du forma dom till rätt storlek med dina händer. Man kan dra ganska mycket i tovat garn :)

I knitted them and was eager to see how they were after felting in the washing machin. What a dissapointment. They were really quite big before washing, and efter washing a size that will suit a 6 year old child..... and yes I washed colourprogram 40 degrees. So be carefull! I don't think I will try again

Dear Jolande, in felting, machine and spin can make big differences, but also the detergent you use, or if using noone. You may rather like to make first a try on the most gentle setting and step it up. Happy knitting!

Felted DROPS mittens in "Big Delight".

|
INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st by working 2 sts in the same st. ---------------------------------------------------------- MITTEN: Worked back and forth on needle size 5.5 mm with Big Delight. Cast on 52-52-56 sts on needle size 5.5 mm. Work entire mitten in stocking st. When piece measures 8 cm, dec 8 sts evenly = 44-44-48 sts. When piece measures 15-16-17 cm, insert 1 marker in the 22nd-22nd-24th st on row (= marks the thumb). Then inc 1 st on each side of st with marker, repeat on every other row 6-7-8 times in total - read Increase tip = 56-58-64 sts. After last inc, slip the inc sts + st with marker + 1 st in each side of these sts on a stitch holder for thumb = 15-17-19 thumb sts. Cast on 3 new sts behind the thumb sts = 44-44-48 sts. Piece measures approx. 21-23-25 cm. Continue in stocking st back and forth over these sts. When piece measures approx. 34-37-41 cm, work all sts tog 2 by 2 = 22-22-24 sts. When piece measures approx. 36-39-43 cm, work all sts tog 2 by 2 one more time = 11-11-12 sts remain on row. Pull yarn through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. THUMB: Slip the 15-17-19 thumb sts on to double pointed needles size 5.5 mm and pick up 5 sts in the 3 inc sts from hand = 20-22-24 sts. Work in the round on double pointed needles in stocking st. When thumb measures approx. 6-6-6.5 cm from thumb gusset, dec 4-4-6 sts evenly (dec by K 2 tog) = 16-18-18 sts. Work 2 rounds. On next round, dec 4 sts evenly = 12-14-14 sts. When piece measures approx. 8.5-8.5-9 cm, work all sts tog 2 by 2 = 6-7-7 sts. Thumb measures from thumb gusset: 9-9-9.5 cm Pull yarn through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. ASSEMBLY: Sew side seam on mitten in front loop of outermost st to avoid a chunky seam. Knit another mitten the same way. FELTING: To avoid the thumb being felted to the mitten, turn it inside out and fasten a small plastic bag/silk ribbon over the top of the thumb with a safety pin. The opening of the safety pin should point towards the tip of the thumb so it is easy to remove after felting. Turn the mitten back to the right side, with the bag/ribbon inside the thumb. The piece can be felted either in the washing machine or the tumble dryer – read description below. Remember: Subsequent washes are as for a normal wool garment. IN WASHING MACHINE: Washing machines will vary when felting. If the piece is not felted enough, it can be felted again. If it is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in the washing machine and use a programme of approx. 40 minutes (not a wool programme). Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash, detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while it is still wet. IN TUMBLE DRYER: Felting in a tumble dryer gives good control over the degree of felting. The tumble dryer can be opened during drying to check the size of the piece. If it is not felted enough it can be thoroughly wetted and felted again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in water so it becomes completely wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin the drying process. Dry to the desired size, checking regularly. |
