Thanks for being so helpful and I apologize for the many questions. I am now at the point on the left front where it says work 2 rows garter st on the front band only. Then continue on all stitches. Can you clarify? I don\'t understand what this means. Much appreciated!!
18.02.2021 - 16:31DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Parr, you will now first work 2 rows over the front band stitches, ie starting from WS (left front piece) / RS (right front piece), work the front band stitches only, turn and work return row. Now work again over all stitches as stated. but I cannot find this explanation in this jacket. Here you work the 7 front band sts and slip them on a thread, then cast off at the beg of every row from neck as explained for your size. The 7 sts will be knit back when working neck edge. Happy knitting!

I love this pattern but still struggling. On the front, it says to 'dec 1 st at the side as described for the back. ' Which side is this referring to? On the back I understood we were decreasing on each side 9 times. I think this has us decrease on just one side 9 times? Which side? And am I right that we are continuing the 8 stitches of garter stitch all the way up? I really appreciate the help!
14.02.2021 - 22:31DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Parr, this refers to the side that will be sewn to back piece, and not the side where you are working the front band stitches, in other words, you will decrease at the beg of the row from right side on left front piece and at the end of the row from right side on right front piece. Seen from right side on left front piece work: 1 edge stitch,(decrease when necessary), knit in stocking stitch undil 7 stiches remain, work the last 7 stitches in garter stitch. Happy knitting!

Working on the back, I have bound off the center stitches for the neckline. Do I now work the two remaining sides separately until I reach the finished length? Can I add a ball of yarn and work both sides at once with different balls of yarn? Confused.

Hi Lizabeth, you should now work the two remaining sides separately until you reach the finished length. You can use two balls od yarn. Happy knitting!

I have made this pattern up several times. It is a turn-to for a lovely, informal, light-weight knit. I particularly love using Alpaca - one of my favourite yarns. People often comment what a lovely cardi I’m wearing. Ring the changes in different colours and use of buttons!
