Bon tricot!

Dear Mrs Jonas, divide piece in 2 equal pieces, and continue each piece separately back and forth casting on 1 stitch on each side on first 2 rows for seam allowance, then continue as explained. Happy knitting!

Hello, i am at the point of adding the 4 stitches on each side...i don't have a sewing machine and don't want to do this technique of having to cut after for sleeves, is there something alternate that i can do? julia
09.12.2021 - 00:52DROPS Design answered:
Dear Julia, this video shows how to work steek stitches with a crochet hook instead of sewing machine - you can also divide piece for armholes and continue working each piece separately - just cast on one edge stitch on each side for seam allowance. Happy knitting!

While working on the front and back piece with circular needle it says to increase 4 stitches on each side. Does it mean on each sides of the marker? Or do I need to divide the number of stitches in 2 halves, place another marker and then increase 4 stitches on each sides of the 2 markers ?
14.11.2020 - 08:48DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Mukherji, these 4 stitches are the steek stitches cast on for armholes, the first set should be at the beg of the round and the 2nd set after half stitches (= first half for front and 2nd half for back piece) - see this video. Happy knitting!

Knitting tension: 21 sts x 28 rows on needle size 3.5 mm in pattern = 10 x 10 cm. Rib: *K2, P2*, repeat from *-*. Pattern: See diagrams M1-M.4. The diagrams are seen from the RS. Back and front piece: The jumper is knitted round on circular needles and cut for armholes afterwards. Cast on 168-180-192 (204-216-228) sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with beige and knit 5 cm Rib. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm and knit M.1. At the same when piece measures 24-28-33 (32-33-35) cm inc 4 sts each side (to be cut for armholes afterwards, do not incorporate these sts in pattern but knit them in stocking sts). After M.1 continue in M.2 until finished measurements. At the same time when piece measures 36-41-47 (47-49-52) cm cast off the middle 26-26-28 (28-30-30) sts at front for neck and finish the piece back and forth on needle. Dec to shape the neckline at front on every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times. At the same time when piece measures 38-43-50 (50-52-55) cm cast off the middle 30-30-32 (32-34-34) at back and dec 2 sts each side on next row. Cast off when piece measures approx 40-45-52 (52-54-57) cm – adjust to a pattern repeat. Sleeves: Cast on 36-36-40 (40-44-44) sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with beige and knit 4 cm Rib, inc 4-6-6 (6-4-4) sts evenly on the last round = 40-42-46 (46-48-48) sts. Change to needle size 3.5 mm and knit M.3 and then M.4. At the same time, after the Rib inc 2 sts mid under arm 14-15-17 (19-20-22) times as follows: size 3/4: on every 3rd and 4th round alternately, size 5/6 – 7/8 -9/10 years: on every 4th round, size 11/12 – 13/14 years: on every 4th and 5th round alternately = 68-72-80 (84-88-92) sts. When piece measures 26-30-33 (37-41-43) cm (adjust to after a full triangle) knit 1 round in beige and then 2 cm in reverse stocking sts = edge for sewing on sleeve to body pieces. Cast off and knit the other sleeve. Assembly: Insert a marking thread in the middle of the inc sts for armhole each side of body piece. Make 2 seams each side using your sewing machine, the first seam ½ st from the MT and the other one ½ st from the first one. Cut the piece between these. Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 76 – 80 sts round the neck on circular needle size 2.5 mm with blue and knit 2 cm Rib, change to beige and knit 3 cm Rib. Cast off. Fold the Rib towards the WS and attach. Set in sleeves from the RS as follows: sew in the last row before the edge in stocking sts on sleeves to the first row after the seam in the sts for cutting on body pieces. Turn the jumper inside out and sew the piece in stocking sts over the cutting edge on body pieces. |
