DECREASE TIP (for hat): Decrease as follows by each marker: BEFORE MARKER-STITCH: Work to 2 stitches before the marker-stitch, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. AFTER MARKER-STITCH: Knit 2 together. 8 decreased stitches on the round. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SCARF – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle in English rib. SCARF: Cast on 33 stitches with circular needle size 6 mm, 1 strand DROPS Nord/DROPS Alpaca together with 2 strands DROPS Kid-Silk (3 strands). Work 2 ridges – see GARTER STITCH in explanations above. Continue back and forth with ENGLISH RIB – read explanation above. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Work until the piece measures 178 cm – finishing after ROW 3 in the English rib. Work the next row as follows: 1 garter stitch, * purl 1, knit together the yarn over and slipped stitch *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, purl 1 and 1 garter stitch. Work 2 ridges. Cast off slightly loosely with knit. The scarf measures approx. 180 cm. HAT- SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses needles of different lengths; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The hat is worked in the round bottom up, first in English rib then in rib. HAT: Cast on 70-78 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm, 1 strand DROPS Nord/DROPS Alpaca and 2 strands DROPS Kid-Silk (3 strands). Work ENGLISH RIB in the round– read explanation above. Work until the piece measures 12 cm. Knit 1 round, knitting the yarn overs together with their respective stitches. Work 1 round of rib (purl 1, knit 1) and increase 10-10 stitches evenly on the round = 80-88 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Continue the rib (purl 1, knit 1). When the hat measures 23-23 cm (8-9 cm to finished length) insert 4 markers, each in a knitted stitch with 19-21 stitches between each marker-stitch. Decrease 2 stitches by each marker – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2nd round 8-9 times = 16-16 stitches. Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 8-8 stitches. Cut the strands, thread them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. 31-32 cm. Fold up the bottom 8-8 cm to the right side. The hat now measures 23-24 cm. |
