Hi, Please can you add what stitches are used in diagram A5? Thank you

Dear Nathalie, you work over the grey shaded section, that is, a treble crochet round. Now start the round with 1 chain stitch (white oval symbol), which replaces the first double stitch and work 1 double crochet (small t symbol) over each treble crochet of the previous round. Happy crochetting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each round of treble crochets, work 3 chain stitches which do not replace the first treble crochet but are in addition. The round finishes with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- BAG – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The piece is worked in the round, in sections which are sewn together. There are 2 large granny squares and 3 hexagons. The strap consists of 12 small Granny squares which are sewn together then sewn to the bag. An edge of double crochets is worked around the bag opening and along both sides of the strap to finish. GRANNY SQUARES: Use crochet hook size 3.5 mm and DROPS Belle. Work A.1 in the round. Remember to maintain the crochet tension. When A.1 is finished there are 5 treble-crochet groups between chain-spaces in each corner = 16 treble crochets and 3 chain stitches along each side = 19 stitches (1 chain stitch from first corner, 16 treble crochets and 2 chain stitches from last corner). The square measures approx. 9½ cm along each side. Work a total of 2 Granny squares like this. HEXAGONS: Use crochet hook size 3.5 mm and DROPS Belle. Work A.2 (= chain-stitch ring), then work as follows: A.3 (1 repeat = 2 treble crochets and 1 chain stitch), then A.4, 5 times on the round (5 repeats = 10 treble crochets and 5 chain stitches) = 12 treble crochets on the round with 1 chain stitch after every 2nd treble crochet. Continue this pattern. When A.3 and A.4 are finished, there are 17 treble crochets and 2 chain stitches along each side = 19 stitches. The hexagon measures approx. 9½ cm along each side. Work 3 hexagons. ASSEMBLY: Fold each hexagon (= b) as shown in the sketch (broken line = fold). Place the hexagons as shown in the sketch. The folds on the hexagons are along the sides and bottom of the bag. Position the Granny squares in the middle (= a). Sew the sections together with small stitches, stitch to stitch. Work an edge around the opening of the bag as follows: Begin with 1 slip stitch in the transition between a Granny square and a hexagon, work A.5A in the first stitch then A.5B in each stitch around the opening. Continue A.5 in the round for 2 cm. Cut and fasten the strand. STRAP: Use crochet hook size 3.5 mm and DROPS Belle. Work A.6 in the round. When A.6 is finished there are 2 treble-crochet groups between the chain-spaces in each corner = 6 treble crochets along each side and the square measures approx. 5 cm along each side. Work 12 Granny squares like this. Sew the squares together into a strip with small stitches. Sew the strap to each side of the bag – see black star in sketch. EDGE: Work an edge along the opening of the bag and along each side of the strap as follows: Begin with 1 slip stitch in the transition between the strap and the bag, work A.5A in the first stitch then A.5B in each stitch along the opening to the next strap, then work as follows along the strap: 1 double crochet in each treble crochet and 2 double crochets around each chain-space in each corner. Cut and fasten the strand. Work in the same way along the other side of the opening and along the other side of the strap. |
