Buon lavoro!

Knitted DROPS hat and neck warmer with spiral pattern in ”Cotton Merino”.

PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Diagram shows all rows seen from RS. GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle): * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds. GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. SPIRAL PATTERN: * K 3, P 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Pattern is over 5 sts and no of sts are divisible by 5 minus 1. When working in the round, the pattern will displace 1 st towards the left on every round and forms a spiral pattern. MEASURING TIP: It is important not to stretch the piece when measuring. DECREASE TIP: Dec 1 st before every marker. Work until 2 sts remain before marker, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st by making 1 YO, on next round K YO twisted (i.e. work in back loop of st instead front) to avoid holes. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Work in the round on circular needle, switch to double pointed needles when needed. Cast on 115-125 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm with Cotton Merino. K 1 round. Then work rib (= K 3/P 2) for 3 cm. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm and K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 11 sts evenly = 104-114 sts. Then work SPIRAL PATTERN - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures approx. 18-22 cm – READ MEASURING TIP, dec 1 st in every other section with K by K 2 tog (K the first 2 tog) = 93-102 sts. Continue with 1 round spiral pattern with alternately 2 and 3 sts K between each of the P sections. On next round repeat dec in the remaining sections with 3 K = 83-91 sts. Work 1 round spiral pattern (K 2/P 2). Work 1 ridge in GARTER ST - see explanation above and insert 9 markers on 2nd round as follows: SIZE S/M: Work 10 sts, insert 1 marker, * work 9 sts, insert 1 marker *, repeat from *-* 7 times in total, work 10 sts, insert 1 marker. L/XL: Work 11 sts, insert 1 marker, * work 10 sts, insert 1 marker *, repeat from *-* 8 times in total. Then work in garter st – AT THE SAME TIME dec – READ DECREASE TIP at every marker on every round worked K 8-9 times = 11-10 sts. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Hat measures approx. 24-28 cm. ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER: Worked back and forth on circular needle in 2 parts, top down. PART 1: Cast on 82 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) on circular needle size 4 mm with Cotton Merino. Work pattern according to diagram A.1 over all sts with 1 edge st in GARTER ST - see explanation above, in each side of piece. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 10½ cm - READ MEASURING TIP and adjust so that next row worked is row 4 in diagram - cast off as follows: Cast off first st on the next 2 rows = 80 sts. Continue pattern as before AT THE SAME TIME when 2 sts remain at the end of every row, slip these 2 sts on a stitch holder, continue like this until all sts are on a stitch holder = 40 sts on stitch holder in each side, cut the yarn. Slip all sts back on circular needle = 80 sts on needle. K 1 row AT THE SAME TIME inc 16 sts evenly - READ INCREASE TIP = 96 sts. K 1 row, loosely cast off with K. Piece now measures approx. 22 cm mid front. PART 2: Cast on 45 sts (incl 1 edge st in garter st in each side) on circular needle size 4 mm with Cotton Merino. Work rib (= K 1, P 1), finish with K 1, with 1 edge st in garter st in each side of piece. Work until piece measures 11 cm, cast off with K over K and P over P. ASSEMBLY: Sew part with rib to one short side on PART 1 inside 1 edge st in garter st and repeat in the other side. |
