Dear Clara, diagram M.3 is 19 stitches, and you start the round with the 2nd stitch (at the arrow), then work to the end (18 sts) then work again these 18 sts. Happy knitting!

WAISTCOAT: Knitting Tension: 20 sts x 26 rows on needle size 4 mm in pattern = 10 x 10 cm Moss st: first row: K1, P1. Second row P over K, K over P. Repeat second row. Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS side. Back and front piece: Knitted back and forth on circular needles from mid front. Cast on 220-240 sts on needle size 2.5 mm with brown and work 3 cm moss st. Change to needle size 4 mm and continue in M.4. Remember the knitting tension. After M.4 complete piece in M.5. At the same time, when piece measures 32-33 cm work next row as follows: 53-58 sts = front piece, cast off 4 sts for armhole, 106-116 sts = back piece, cast off 4 sts for armhole, 53-58 sts = front piece. Now complete each piece separately. Front piece: = 53-58 sts. Dec to shape the armhole on every other row: 3 sts 3-4 times, 2 sts 4-4 times = 36-38 sts. When piece measures 35-35 cm dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 3-3 times, on every 4th row: 1 st 4-4 times, on every 6th row: 1 st 5-6 times. When piece measures 55-57 cm dec to shape the shoulder towards neckline on every other row: 5 sts 3 times, 6-7 sts 1 time. At the same time when piece measures 56-58 cm cast off the middle 26-28 sts for neck and dec 2 sts on neckline on next row. All sts are now cast off, piece measures approx 58-60 cm. Assembly: Join shoulders. Pick up approx 120-130 round neck on circular needle size 2.5 mm with brown and work 2 cm moss st back and forth on needle, cast off. Pick up approx 90 sts along left front piece on circular needle size 2.5 mm with brown and work 3 cm moss st back and forth on needle, cast off. Repeat along right front piece, but after 1 cm make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed. 1 buttonhole = cast off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on next row. Buttonholes: Make buttonholes on right front piece when piece measures: 1-1, 10-10, 19-20, 29-30, 38-40, 47-50 and 56-59 cm. 1 buttonhole = Cast off st no 3 and 4 from edge and cast on 2 new sts on return row. Back and front piece: Knitted back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 272-292 sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with brown and work 3 cm moss st – remember buttonhole on right front piece. Change to needle size 3.5 mm and continue in M.1 with 6 sts each side in moss st (= front bands). Remember the knitting tension. After M.1 complete piece in M.2. When piece measures 49-52 cm work next row as follows: 69-74 sts = front piece, cast off 4 sts for armhole, 126-136 sts = back piece, cast off 4 sts for armhole, 69-74 sts = front piece, and now complete each piece separately. Front piece: = 69-74 sts. Dec to shape the armhole on every other row: 2 sts 3-4 times, 1 st 2-3 times = 61-63 sts. When piece measures 57-60 cm inc for collar as follows: Inc 1 st on every other row 14 times inside 1 edge st (= first front band st), at the same time inc 1 st on every 2nd and 3rd row alternately 8 times inside the 6th edge st (= last front band st). Work the inc sts in double moss st. When piece measures 77-80 cm cast off 38-40 sts for shoulder and continue in double moss st on remaining 45-45 collar sts – measure collar from here. When collar measures 8 cm dec towards the neckline on every other row: 4 sts 10 times, 5 sts 1 time. Back piece: = 126-136 sts. Dec to shape the armhole as described for front piece = 110-114 sts. When piece measures 76-79 cm cast off the middle 30-30 sts for neck and dec 2 sts on neckline on next row. Cast off remaining 38-40 sts for shoulder when piece measures 77-80 cm. Sleeves: Cast on 48-48 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with brown work 3 cm moss st. Change to needle size 3.5 mm, inc 8-8 sts evenly on first round = 56-56 sts and continue in M.1 – make sure to place a pattern repeat mid upper sleeve. At the same time after the moss st inc 2 sts mid under arm 31-31 times on every *3rd, 4th and 3rd* round alternately for size S/M, and on every *3rd and 4th round alternately for size M/L = 118-118 sts. At the same time after M.1 continue in M.2 – make sure to place a pattern repeat mid upper sleeve. When piece measures 44-45 cm cast off 6 sts mid under arm and complete sleeve back and forth on needle. Dec each side to shape the sleeve cap on every other row: 5 sts 9 times. Cast off, sleeve measures approx 50-51 cm. Assembly: Join shoulders. Fasten collar on back piece. Sew tog collar mid back. Set in sleeves and sew on buttons. GLOVES: Size: M Knitting Tension: 20 sts x 26 rows on needle size 4 mm in pattern = 10 x 10 cm Rib: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*. Pattern : Start vante = beg glove Right glove: Cast on 36 sts on double pointed needle size 3 mm with brown and work 5 cm Rib. Change to needle size 4 mm and continue in M.3 (beg by arrow). Distribute sts on 4 needles = 9 sts on each and insert a marker each side (= 18 sts under and 18 sts upper hand). Work 10 rounds and now continue for thumb as follows: Knit 1st needle (= 9 sts), on second needle inc 1 st before the last st, on third needle inc 1 st after the first st, knit fourth needle. Work 2 rounds without inc, and then work another round with inc as described above. Continue like this until there are 12 thumb sts. Work 2 rounds on all sts and now put the 12 thumb sts on a thread. Cast on 2 new sts behind these 12 sts and complete M.1, change to brown, work 1 round and now continue as follows for fingers: Little finger: Pick up 4 sts from upper hand and 4 sts from under hand and cast on 2 new sts towards ring finger. Work 6 rounds Rib and cast off. Ring finger: Pick up 4 sts from upper hand and 4 sts from under hand and cast on 2 new sts each side = 12 sts. Work 10 rounds Rib and cast off. Middle finger: Pick up 5 sts from upper hand and 5 sts from under hand and cast on 2 new sts each side = 14 sts. Work 12 rounds Rib and cast off. Index finger: Work as ring finger. Thumb: Put sts on thread back on needle and pick up 2 new sts behind these = 14 sts. Work 8 rounds Rib and cast off. Left glove: Like right glove, but reversed. Work M.1 from left to right in diagram. |
