Bon tricot!

The diagram doesn't seem to be accurate. My small cables either side of the central one do not twist tightly, instead there is a ten row elongated gap. Why is there no written reference? From the limited picture, there should be two smaller cable twists besides the larger central cable. However, the diagram doesn't indicate this at all. Please can you correct this, or provide a written pattern?

Dear Amelia, in cable diagram, you have 1 small cable on each side of the larger one. You cross sts for all cables a total of 2 times, then only the 2 smaller one the last time. Happy knitting!

Pattern: See diagram. The pattern is seen from the RS. 1 rapport = 1 repeat Rib: * K2, P2 *. Moss st: Row 1: *K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. Row 2: K over P and P over K. Repeat row 2. Back piece: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Numbers in ( ) refer to men’s sizes. Cast on 84-86 (86-90) sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm and work 5 cm Rib back and forth on needle. Change to circular needle size 5.5 mm, K 1 row from WS, at the same time inc 28-32 (30-30) sts evenly = 112-118 (116-120) sts. Remember the knitting tension. When piece measures 63-65 (64-67) cm cast off the middle 40-42 (40-42) sts for neck and complete each side separately. Cast off the remaining 38-40 (38-41) sts on shoulders when piece measures 64-66 (65-68) cm. Front piece: Like back piece, but cast off the middle 22-24 (22-24) sts for neck when piece measures 60-62 (60-63) cm and complete each side separately. Cast off to shape the neckline on every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 1 time. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 64-66 (65-68) cm. Sleeve: Cast on 36-38 (38-40) sts on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work 5 cm Rib. Change to double pointed needles size 5.5 mm, work 1 round stocking st, at the same time inc 18-16 (14-14) sts evenly on round = 54-54 (52-54) sts. Continue in pattern as follows: 15-15 (14-15) moss sts, 24 cable sts, 15-15 (14-15) moss sts. At the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 20-21 (21-20) times on every 5th round for ladies size S/M, on * every 4th and 5th * round alternately for ladies size M/L, and on * every 5th and 6th * round alternately for men’s size S/M + M/L = 94-86 (94-94) sts. Cast off all sts when sleeve measures 49 (48) cm. Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 90 sts round neckline on circular needle size 3.5 mm and work 9 cm rib, cast off and fold edge double towards WS and fasten. Set in sleeves, sew side and sleeve seams inside 1 edge st. |
