------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION (treble crochets in a spiral): The piece is worked in the round in a spiral, without finishing after each round. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round so you know where the rounds begin and end. At the beginning of each round work the first treble crochet in the first treble crochet from the previous round. On the last round work as follows to avoid a jump: Work until there are 2 treble crochets left on the round, work 1 half-treble crochet in the next treble crochet, 1 double crochet in the last treble crochet, finish with 1 slip stitch in the first treble crochet from the beginning of the round. INCREASE TIP-1 (evenly spaced): Increase 1 stitch by working 2 treble crochets in the same stitch. To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches (e.g., 116 treble crochets) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 26) = 4.5. In this example increase by working 2 treble crochets in alternately every 4th and 5th treble crochet. INCREASE TIP-2 (for body): Increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread by working 2 treble crochets in the same stitch as follows: Start 4 treble crochets before the first marker-thread, work 2 treble crochets in the next treble crochet, work 6 treble crochets (marker-thread sits in the middle of these 6 treble crochets), work 2 treble crochets in the next treble crochet. Repeat by the 2nd marker-thread (= 4 increased stitches). LOBSTER STITCH – double crochets: Work double crochets but from left to right. DECREASE TIP-1 (for sleeves): When working in the round, the beginning of the round will be displaced. Insert a marker-thread mid-under the sleeve, between 2 stitches and allow it to follow your work vertically downwards – the thread will need to be moved so it remains vertical. Lay the garment flat and check the thread is still mid-under the sleeve before decreasing. Decrease on each side of 2 treble crochets as follows: Work until there are 3 treble crochets left before the marker-thread, work 2 treble crochets together – read DECREASE TIP-2, work 2 treble crochets (marker-thread sits between these 2 treble crochets), work 2 treble crochets together (= 2 stitches decreased). DECREASE TIP-2: Decrease 1 treble crochet by working 2 treble crochets together as follows: * Make 1 yarn over, insert the hook through the next stitch, pick up the strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the first 2 loops on the hook *, work from *-* one more time, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (= 1 stitch decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The yoke is worked in the round top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves which are finished separately in the round. The neck is worked to finish. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. YOKE: Work 106-110-114-120-126-130-134 CHAIN STITCHES – read explanation above, with hook size 3.5 mm and DROPS Alpaca. Form the stitches into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. ROUND 1: Work 2 chain stitches, then 1 half-treble crochet in each of the 106-110-114-120-126-130-134 remaining chain stitches, work 2 half-treble crochets around the 2 chain stitches at the beginning of the round = 108-112-116-122-128-132-136 half-treble crochets. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 36-37-39-41-43-44-45 half-treble crochets (approx. mid-front), the piece is measured from here. Read CROCHET INFORMATION. Working treble crochets in the round in a spiral, work 1 treble crochet in each half-treble crochet and increase 26-26-28-30-32-34-36 treble crochets evenly spaced - read INCREASE TIP-1 = 134-138-144-152-160-166-172 treble crochets. Continue with 1 treble crochet in each treble crochet. Remember to maintain the crochet tension. When the piece measures 4-4-5-5-5-5-5 cm from the marker, increase 36-38-42-48-52-56-60 treble crochets evenly on the round = 170-176-186-200-212-222-232 treble crochets. When the piece measures 7-7-8-8-8-8-8 cm from the marker, increase 44-48-54-58-62-66-70 treble crochets evenly on the round = 214-224-240-258-274-288-302 treble crochets. When the piece measures 10-11-12-12-13-13-13 cm from the marker, increase 36-40-44-48-54-60-62 treble crochets evenly on the round = 250-264-284-306-328-348-364 treble crochets. When the piece measures 14-15-16-16-17-18-19 cm from the marker, increase 22-24-28-30-34-40-46 treble crochets evenly on the round = 272-288-312-336-362-388-410 treble crochets. When the piece measures 18-19-21-21-22-23-25 cm from the marker, increase 18-20-24-26-30-34-38 treble crochets evenly on the round = 290-308-336-362-392-422-448 treble crochets. Continue with treble crochets in a spiral. When the yoke measures 20-21-23-23-24-26-28 cm from the marker mid-front, divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work 12-14-14-16-18-20-22 new chain stitches (= mid-under the sleeve), skip the first 56-58-64-70-76-80-82 treble crochets (= sleeve-stitches), work 1 treble crochet in each of the next 89-96-104-111-120-131-142 treble crochets, work 12-14-14-16-18-20-22 new chain stitches (= mid-under the sleeve), skip the next 56-58-64-70-76-80-82 treble crochets (= sleeve-stitches), work 1 treble crochet in each of the last 89-96-104-111-120-131-142 treble crochets (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: The beginning of the round is in the transition between the body and sleeve. Continue working in a spiral, with 1 treble crochet in each treble crochet. In addition, on the first round work 1 treble crochet in each of the 12-14-14-16-18-20-22 chain stitches worked under each sleeve = 202-220-236-254-276-302-328 treble crochets. Work until the piece measures 30-31-32-33-34-35-36 cm from the marker mid-front. Insert 1 marker-thread in each side as follows: Lay the garment flat and insert 1 marker-thread between 2 treble crochets mid-under each sleeve. Increase 1 treble crochet on each side of each marker-thread (= 4 increased stitches) – read INCREASE TIP-2. Increase like this every 5 cm a total of 2-2-3-3-3-3-3 times = 210-228-248-266-288-314-340 treble crochets. Continue working until the piece measures 26-27-27-28-29-29-29 cm from the chain stitches under the sleeve – remember CROCHET INFORMATION when finishing the last round. The jumper measures approx. 51-53-55-57-59-61-63 cm from top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Now work the 56-58-64-70-76-80-82 skipped stitches on one side of the piece: Fasten the strand with 1 double crochet in the 7th-8th-8th-9th-10th-11th-12th chain stitch in the chain stitches under one sleeve. Work 1 treble crochet in each of the next 4-5-5-6-7-8-9 chain stitches, then work 2 treble crochets together as follows: Work 1 treble crochet in the last chain stitch but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through, work 1 more treble crochet in the same way around the treble crochet in the transition between the body and sleeve, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (this avoids a large hole in the transition between the body and sleeve), work 1 treble crochet in each of the 56-58-64-70-76-80-82 treble crochets on the yoke and as far as the chain stitches on the other side of the sleeve, work 2 treble crochets together in the same way as before, in the transition between body and sleeve, work 1 treble crochet in each of the last 5-6-6-7-8-9-10 chain stitches under the sleeve = 68-72-78-86-94-100-104 stitches. Work treble crochets in the round in a spiral, starting the next round by working the first treble crochet in the first double crochet from the previous round. Work 1 treble crochet in each treble crochet. When the sleeve measures 4 cm from the division, decrease 2 treble crochets mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP every 10-10-8-5-3½-3-2½ cm a total of 2-3-5-8-11-13-14 times = 64-66-68-70-72-74-76 treble crochets. Work until the sleeve measures 44-44-42-43-43-41-40 cm from the division. Work the next round as follows: * 1 treble crochet in each of the first 5-6-6-6-6-7-7 treble crochets, work 2 treble crochets together – remember DECREASE TIP-2 *, work from *-* 8 times, with 8-2-4-6-8-2-4 treble crochets left, work 1 treble crochet in each of the next 6-0-2-4-6-0-2 treble crochets, work 1 half-treble crochet in the next treble crochet, 1 double crochet in the last treble crochet = 56-58-60-62-64-66-68 stitches, work 1 slip stitch in the first treble crochet at the beginning of the round. Work 1 round of LOBSTER STITCH – read explanation above. The sleeve measures approx. 45-45-43-44-44-42-41 cm from the division. NECK: Use hook size 3.5 mm. Start from the right side mid-back and work 1 treble crochet in each half-treble crochet around the neckline = 108-112-116-122-128-132-136 treble crochets. Finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first treble crochet at the beginning of the round. Work 1 round of LOBSTER STITCH. Cut and fasten the strand. |
