------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.2). The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. INCREASE TIP (sleeves): Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The body is worked from bottom up in the round with circular needle as far as the armholes, then divided and the front and back pieces continued separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle as far as the sleeve cap, which is finished back and forth. The piece is sewn together and the neck worked to finish. BODY: Cast on 245-266-280-301-329-357 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands). Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round, allow this thread to follow your work onwards. Knit 1 round. Work rib as shown in A.1a over all stitches. When A.1a is finished in height, work A.1b over all stitches 2 times in height. The piece measures approx. 9 cm. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm. Work A.2 over all stitches and decrease 57-66-68-73-81-89 stitches evenly on the first round = 188-200-212-228-248-268 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.2 is finished in height, the piece measures approx. 18-18-18-19-19-19 cm from the cast-on edge. Repeat A.2 onwards. When the piece measures 33-34-35-36-37-38 cm, cast off for the armholes as follows: Cast off 2-3-4-6-7-8 stitches, work 90-94-98-102-110-118 stitches, cast off the next 4-6-8-12-14-16 stitches, work 90-94-98-102-110-118 stitches and cast off the last 2-3-4-6-7-8 stitches. Cut the strand. The back and front are now finished separately, back and forth. BACK PIECE: = 90-94-98-102-110-118 stitches. Continue A.2 as before until you have worked 4 repeats in height and the piece measures approx. 46-46-46-50-50-50 cm from the cast-on edge. Continue with stocking stitch. When the piece measures 18-19-20-21-22-23 cm from the division, work diagonal shoulders and cast off for the neck as follows: Work 32-34-35-37-39-43 stitches, cast off the next 26-26-28-28-32-32 stitches for the neck, work until there are 7-8-8-9-9-10 stitches left on the row. Turn and work back. Each shoulder is finished separately. Continue like this, working 7-8-8-9-9-10 fewer stitches at the end of each row from the neck a total of 3 times. AT THE SAME TIME cast off 1 stitch for the neck at the beginning of the first row from the neck = 31-33-34-36-38-42 stitches. Work 1 row of stocking stitch over all the shoulder stitches. Cast off. The piece measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm measured closest to the neck. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 90-94-98-102-110-118 stitches. Work pattern in the same way as on the back piece. When the piece measures 15-15-15-16-16-16 cm from the division, place the middle 20-20-22-22-26-26 stitches on a thread for the neck (35-37-38-40-42-46 stitches on each shoulder), finish each shoulder separately. Cast off 1 stitch on each row from the neck 4 times = 31-33-34-36-38-42 stitches. AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 18-19-20-21-22-23 cm from the division work the diagonal shoulders starting from the neck as follows: Work until there are 7-8-8-9-9-10 stitches left, turn and work back. Continue like this, working 7-8-8-9-9-10 fewer stitches each time you turn 2 more times. Work 1 row of stocking stitch over all stitches. Cast off. The piece measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm measured closest to the neck. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 63-70-70-77-77-77 stitches with double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands). Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round, allow it to follow your work onwards. Knit 1 round. Work rib as shown in A.1a over all stitches. When A.1a is finished in height, work A.1b over all stitches 4 times in height. Work A.3 over all stitches and decrease 17-20-20-23-23-19 stitches evenly on first round = 46-50-50-54-54-58 stitches. The sleeve measures approx. 15 cm. Change to short circular needle size 4.5 mm. Continue with stocking stitch. When the sleeve measures 17 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 3-3-2½-2½-2-2 cm a total of 9-9-11-11-12-12 times = 64-68-72-76-78-82 stitches. When the sleeve measures 46-45-44-44-42-41 cm, work the sleeve cap back and forth (from the marker-thread). Cast off when the sleeve measures 47-47-47-47-46-45 cm (a split of 1-2-3-3-4-4 cm at the top of the sleeve). Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams inside the cast-off edge. Sew the sleeve cap to the armhole and the split to the bottom of the armhole - see sketch. DOUBLE NECK: Start on one shoulder seam and knit up from the right side 90 to 115 stitches round the neck (including the stitches on the thread), with short circular needle size 3.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands). The stitch count should be divisible by 5. Work rib (knit 3, purl 2) for 10 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic. |
