---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET INFORMATION: If you work at the back of the crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 double crochet/treble crochet is wide. COLOURS: Work as follows: * 2 rounds in colour dark blue, 2 rounds in colour beige *, work from *-* until 12 rounds have been worked in total. Work the last 2 rounds in colour beige. COLOUR CHANGE: To get a nice transition at colour change work slip stitch at the end of round with the new colour. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Use diagram A.2 to A.4 for assembly. CROCHET TOGETHER: Place 2 large squares edge to edge so that they can be worked together. Start in the middle of the corners and work as follows: * Insert hook from right side and down through back loop on one square, then insert hook from right side and down through back loop on the other square, get the yarn and pull yarn through both loops on hook *, work from *-* until squares are worked together. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- BAG – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Bag consists of 3 large squares and 1 small square. Work the 3 large squares together. Sew the small square to the back of bag, this square has a strap that is buttoned on the front. Then work a shoulder strap. LARGE SQUARES: Use crochet hook size 3.5 mm and DROPS Bomull-Lin in colour dark blue. Read CROCHET INFORMATION, COLOURS AND COLOUR CHANGE in explanation above, and work PATTERN A.1. The first 4 rounds are shown in A.1, then work the same way until 12 rounds with treble crochets have been worked in total = 144 treble crochets and 4 chain spaces. Now work 1 round with double crochets in colour beige as follows: Work 1 double crochet in every treble crochet the entire round, around every chain space in the corners work 5 double crochets = 164 double crochets. Cut and fasten the yarn. Work 3 identical squares. SMALL SQUARE: Cast on and work as the large square but stop when 2 rounds dark blue and 1 round beige have been worked. Now work 1 more round with colour beige, at the same time make a strap for button. Work A.1 as before until 1 corner remain on square, work 3 treble crochets, 9 chain stitches (= strap for button) and 3 treble crochets around corner, work as before the entire round. Cut and fasten the yarn. ASSEMBLY: Diagrams A.2 and A.3 show bag seen from the front and back. When working squares together, work alternately from front side and back side without cutting the yarn. Find the 3 large squares, fold them to form triangles and make sure they are the same side up. Place them as shown on diagram A.2. Use crochet hook 3.5 mm and colour beige, begin at the arrow with the number 1. Work the first 2 squares together in the arrow’s direction - read CROCHET TOGETHER in explanation above. When you have worked until the corner, turn piece. See diagram A.3 and work from the arrow with the number 2. Work squares together until next corner, do not turn the piece. Now the first 2 squares have been worked together, now fasten the last square. Work 1 chain stitch and continue from the arrow with the number 3. When you have worked until the corner, turn piece again. See diagram A.2 and work from the arrow with the number 4. When you have worked until the beginning of round, finish round with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Cut and fasten the yarn. Now fasten the small square to the large squares, diagram A.4 shows where the square should be fastened. Fasten the square along the back of bag, sew stitch to stitch and make sure that strap is pointing upwards. Fasten button at the front of bag as shown on chart and fasten strap in button. SHOULDER STRAP: Use hook size 3.5 mm and colour beige. Work chain stitches until the chain stitch row measures approx. 145 cm– remember CROCHET INFORMATION. Work 2 double crochets in the 2nd chain stitch from hook, work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch until 1 chain stitch remains on row, work 3 chain stitches in the last chain stitch, turn piece to work in the opposite side of chain stitches on chain stitch row. Work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch the entire row, finish with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Cut and fasten the yarn. Thread the strap through the corner on one side of the bag, and then pull it through the corner on the other side of bag. Tie ends of strap together. When bag is used, the shoulder strap is double. |
