PATTERN: See diagram M.1 (= 9 sts) and M.2 (= 17 sts). HEEL DECREASE (worked in stocking st): Row 1 (= RS): Work until 10-11-11 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work until 10-11-11 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): Work until 9-10-10 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): Work until 9-10-10 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 15-15-17 sts on needle. DECREASE TIP: Dec on each side of foot as follows: Before K 3 sts and pattern (incl the outermost K st): K 3 sts twisted tog, i.e. insert right needle through back loop of sts in all the next 3 sts = 2 sts dec. After pattern (incl the outermost K st): K 3 sts tog = 2 sts dec. -------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 72-72-72 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with Fabel. K 1 round. Continue with PATTERN - see explanation above - as follows: M.1 a total of 8 times. Work M.1 a total of 3 times vertically. Work next round as follows: M.2 over the first 17 sts, K the next 19 sts while AT THE SAME TIME dec 6-4-2 sts evenly over these 19 sts, M.2 over the next 17 sts, K the remaining 19 sts while AT THE SAME TIME dec 6-4-2 sts evenly over these 19 sts = 60-64-68 sts (= 13-15-17 sts in stocking st between M.2 in each side). Continue with M.2 in each side and stocking st over the remaining sts. When piece measures 11-12-13 cm, work next round as follows: K 2 sts in middle st in the middle of M.2 in each side (see arrow in diagram) while AT THE SAME TIME working the remaining sts on round in pattern and stocking st as before = 2 sts inc. On next round make 1 YO between the K 2 sts in the middle of M.2 (K YO twisted on next round i.e. in back loop of st instead of front to avoid holes) = 64-68-72 sts. Then on next round divide the piece as follows: Work 9 sts (i.e. up to and incl K st in M.2). Now keep the next 33-35-37 sts on needle for heel and slip the remaining 31-33-35 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot). Work in stocking st and pattern over heel sts as before (NOTE! The 2 inc sts in the middle of each M.2 in each side follow the heel sts and are K on RS and P on WS). When heel measures 8-9-10 cm, insert a marker, now measure piece from here. Work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above! (NOTE! All heel sts are worked in stocking st from here.) After heel decrease, knit up 21-23-26 sts on each side of heel (knit up inside the outermost K st in each side of heel sts) and slip the 31-33-35 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 88-94-104 sts. Insert a marker before the 31-33-35 sts on upper foot = beg of round. Continue in the pattern in each side up the foot as before, work the remaining sts in stocking st. AT THE SAME TIME on 1st round, dec 2 sts on each side of pattern on upper foot - READ DECREASE TIP! Repeat dec on every other round a total of 7-7-8 times, then continue dec on each side of foot by K 2 twisted tog/K 2 tog = 1 st dec each side. Repeat the dec every other round a total of 5-6-6 times = 50-54-60 sts. Continue working until piece measures 18-20-22 cm from marker on heel (finish after 1 cable round in pattern = approx. 4-4-5 cm remain for toes). Insert a marker in each side so that there are 25-27-29 sts on upper foot and 25-27-31 sts under foot. Continue working stocking st over all sts while AT THE SAME TIME dec for toes on each side of both markers as follows: Work until 3 sts remain before marker: K 2 tog, K 2 (marker is between these), K 2 twisted tog. Repeat dec in each side on every other round a total of 4 times and then on every round a total of 6-7-8 times = 10-10-12 sts remain on needle. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
