Measure the laptop's circumference: 90 cm and height: 28 cm. A: Multiply the circumference with 2.4 = 216 sts. B: Multiply the height with 1.7 = 47½ cm. C: Multiply the number from B with 0.4 = 19 cm. Cast on sts from A: 216 sts on circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 with Nepal. Work in stockinette st until piece measures B: 47½ cm. Now bind off half the sts and continue to work a flap back and forth on needle. Continue in stockinette st until flap measures C: 19 cm.

I see the example of the calculation: A: 2*(37+25)*2.4= 297; B= 25*1.7= 42.5 en C= 42.5*0.4= 17. My laptop circumference is 90cm and the height is: 28cm. Can you help me understand how I would arrive at the correct number of stitches. Thank you!

Dus 80 cm x 2,4 = 192 st. Je B en C is goed.

Hoi Jana.

Alvast bedankt

LAPTOP MEASUREMENTS: You need to insert some numbers yourself in order to make the pattern fit your laptop. Round off all numbers up to nearest whole number. Measure the laptop's circumference: ___ cm and height: ___ cm and fill in the rest of the numbers. The pattern requires the following numbers: A: Multiply the circumference with 2.4 = ______ sts. B: Multiply the height with 1.7 = ______ cm. C: Multiply the number from B with 0.4 = _______ cm. --------------------------------------------------------- LAPTOP BAG: Start by measuring the laptop - see explanation above. Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on sts from A: _______ on circular needle size 5 mm with Nepal. Work in stocking st until piece measures B: ______ cm. Now cast off half the sts and continue to work a flap back and forth on needle. Continue in stocking st until flap measures C: ______ cm. Now cast off for tip on flap starting from RS as follows: * cast off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, cast off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows *. Repeat from *-* until 4-8 sts remain on needle. Cast off. Sew tog edge at the bottom of piece. CROCHET BORDER: Crochet a lace edge on hook size 5 mm along the flap's cast off edge - beg in the right side of flap. ROW 1: 1 dc, * 9 ch, skip 2 cm, 1 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire row. ROW 2: Turn piece and work sl st up to the middle of 1st loop, then 1 dc in loop, * 9 ch, 1 dc in next loop *, repeat from *-* until last ch-loop. Cut and fasten the thread. FELTING: Place the bag in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. After wash shape the bag to the right size while still wet and leave to dry flat. At subsequent wash, wash the bag at regular wool programme. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
