I had the same question as Aliah about the A3 not lining up with the A1 because the pattern starts with K2 P2 A1 - not K2 P2 K2 as you said in your answer. Can I just start the row two stitches earlier or do I need to undo the whole cuff? It would be good if you could correct the pattern too!
10.12.2023 - 22:07DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mary, that's correct, there is a typo in the English version of the pattern. So, in order to align the pattern, we work k2, p2, k2 and then start A.1. We will correct the online pattern as soon as possible. You could displace the beginning of the round but it could affect the placement of the heel later on and the pattern may not be centered in the leg. Happy knitting!

It says to K2 P2 then do A1 chart, that begins with 3 purls. Does that mean there should be 5 purls in a row? Even though there isn't 5 purls on the other side?
27.11.2023 - 16:48DROPS Design answered:
Hi Aliah, You start with K2, P2, K2 (so no, there are not 5 purled stitches here) before working A.1, then K,2, P2, which is then all repeated. Happy knitting!

Wo kommen die beiden Msschen her? Liebe Grüße
19.12.2022 - 19:53DROPS Design answered:

I like the pattern and have done a pair of fingerless gloves with the same pattern. I was just wondering if I can use circular knitting needles instead of the double pointed ones. Thanks.
03.02.2022 - 01:45DROPS Design answered:
Hi Timothy, If you use the Magic Loop technique, you can use a circular needle for this pattern. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. DECREASE TIP-1 (decreases to back of leg): Work as far as the stocking stitch section. Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (= 1 stitch decreased), work until there are 2 stitches left before the pattern, knit 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased). 1 stitch is decreased on each side of the stocking stitch section. DECREASE TIP-2 (decreases to toe): Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 twisted together. Repeat this decrease at the other marker (= 4 stitches decreased on the round). HEEL DECREASES: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 6-6-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 6-6-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 5-5-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 5-5-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn. Continue to decrease like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 10-12-12 stitches left on the needle. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The socks are worked in the round with double pointed needles, top down. SOCK: Cast on 61-65-69 stitches with double pointed needles size 4 mm and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Knit 1 round. Then work rib as follows: Knit 2, purl 2, knit 2, work A.1 over the next 19 stitches, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* to end of round. Continue this rib in the round for 4 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm. OVERVIEW OF THE NEXT SECTION: Now you will decrease at the back of the leg at the same time as working pattern – read the complete section before continuing! Pattern: Work A.2 over the first 6 stitches, A.3 over the next 19 stitches, A.4 over the next 6 stitches, A.2 over the next 6 stitches, knit 18-22-26 and finish with A.4 over the last 6 stitches. Continue this pattern in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION. Decreasing: On the first round decrease on each side of the stocking stitch section at the back of the sock – read DECREASE TIP-1. Decrease like this every 2½ cm a total of 6-7-8 times. In addition, when the piece measures 24-25-26 cm, decrease 1 purled stitch on each side of A.3 by purling the outermost 2 stitches together on each side (= 2 stitches decreased) = 47-49-51 stitches. Work until the piece measures 26-27-28 cm – adjust so the next round is an even row in the diagrams; this is so the cabling is worked on the right side when you work back and forth for the heel. The next round is worked as follows: Work the first 29 stitches and place them on a thread (= top of foot), keep the last 18-20-22 stitches on the needle (i.e. A.2, 6-8-10 knitted stitches, A.4). Continue the pattern as before over the heel stitches and cast on 1 new stitch on each side on the first row (= edge stitches worked in stocking stitch) = 20-22-24 stitches. Work until the heel measures 5-5½-6 cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the row. The piece is now measured from here. Now work stocking stitch over all stitches and decrease for the heel – read HEEL DECREASES. After the heel decreases, knit up 9-10-12 stitches on each side of the heel and the 29 stitches from the thread are placed back on the needle = 57-61-65 stitches. Insert a marker thread on each side of the 31 middle stitches on top of the foot. Continue in the round with pattern over the 31 stitches on top of the foot and stocking stitch over the other stitches – AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side of the 31 stitches on top of the foot as follows: Knit together the last 2 stitches before the 31 stitches and knit twisted together the first 2 stitches after the 31 stitches (= 2 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 9-10-11 times = 39-41-43 stitches. Work until the piece measures 19-20-23 cm from the marker. There is approx. 3-4-4 cm left to finished length; try the sock on and work to desired length before decreasing for the toe. Knit 1 round where you decrease 7 stitches over the 31 stitches on top of the foot = 32-34-36 stitches. Now insert a marker thread on each side of the piece = 16-17-18 stitches on top of the foot and 16-17-18 stitches underneath. Work stocking stitch in the round and decrease for the toe on the next round – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2nd round 2-3-4 times, then every round 2-1-0 times = 16-18-20 stitches. Work 1 round where you knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 8-9-10 stitches. Cut the strand, thread it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. Work the other sock in the same way. |
