Buon lavoro!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 double crochet/double treble crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each row/round of double crochets work 1 chain stitch; this chain stitch does not replace the first double crochet. The round ends with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch at the beginning of the round (when working in the round). At the beginning of each row/round of double treble crochets, work 4 chain stitches; these chain stitches do not replace the first double treble crochet. The round ends with 1 slip stitch in the 4th chain stitch at the beginning of the round (when working in the round). PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows from the right side. INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 stitch by working 2 stitches in 1 stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The vest is worked in sections, back and forth and top down. The shoulders are sewn together and the neck worked in the round. All rows from the wrong side are worked with double crochets and all rows from the right side with double treble crochets. VEST: BACK PIECE: Right shoulder: Work 18-18-18-18-18-19 chain stitches – read CHAIN STITCH, with hook size 5.5 mm and 1 strand Sky and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Turn and work pattern as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Work 4 chain stitches – read CROCHET INFORMATION, 1 double treble crochet in each chain stitch to end of row = 18-18-18-18-18-19 double treble crochets. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work 1 double crochet in each stitch. Cut the strands and lay the piece to one side. Left shoulder: Work 18-18-18-18-18-19 chain stitches with hook size 5.5 mm and 1 strand Sky and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Turn and work pattern as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Work 4 chain stitches – remember CROCHET INFORMATION, 1 double treble crochet in each chain stitch to end of row = 18-18-18-18-18-19 double treble crochets. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work 1 double crochet in each stitch. ROW 3: Work 1 double treble crochet in each of the first 17-17-17-17-17-18 stitches, work 2 double treble crochets in the next stitch (= 1 stitch increased), work 17-18-19-21-22-22 loose chain stitches (= neck), then work the stitches on the right shoulder from the right side as follows: 2 double treble crochets in the first stitch and 1 double treble crochet in each of the last 17-17-17-17-17-18 stitches = 55-56-57-59-60-62 stitches. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! Continue back and forth with double treble crochets from the right side and double crochets from the wrong side until the piece measures 49-51-53-55-57-59 cm measured from the shoulder – at the same time, on the last row of double crochets, increase 0-1-0-0-1-1 stitch on the row by working 2 stitches in 1 stitch = 55-57-57-59-61-63 stitches. Now work an edge of relief-stitches as follows: Work A.1 until there is 1 stitch left and work the first stitch in A.1. When the diagram has been completed the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the shoulder down. Cut and fasten the strands. FRONT PIECE: Left shoulder: Work 18-18-18-18-18-19 chain stitches, with hook size 5.5 mm and 1 strand Sky and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Continue with double treble crochets from the right side and double crochets from the wrong side, at the same time on row 3 start to increase for the neck – read INCREASE TIP. Increase 1 stitch in the 2nd stitch from the right edge of the piece (= neck) – i.e. at the beginning of rows from the right side and the end of rows from the wrong side. Increase like this every row a total of 4 times = 22-22-22-22-22-23 stitches. When row 6 is finished, lay the piece to one side. Right shoulder: Work 18-18-18-18-18-19 chain stitches, with hook size 5.5 mm and 1 strand Sky and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Turn and work pattern as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Work 4 chain stitches – remember CROCHET INFORMATION, 1 double treble crochet in each chain stitch to end of row = 18-18-18-18-18-19 double treble crochets. Increase like this every row a total of 4 times = 22-22-22-22-22-23 stitches. When row 6 is finished, work the next row from the right side as follows: Work 1 double treble crochet in each of the first 20-20-20-20-20-21 stitches, 2 double treble crochets in the next stitch, 1 double treble crochet in the last stitch, work 9-10-11-13-14-14 loose chain stitches (= neck), then continue over the left shoulder from the right side as follows: Work 1 double treble crochet in the first stitch, 2 double treble crochets in the next stitch, 1 double treble crochet in each of the last 20-20-20-20-20-21 stitches = 55-56-57-59-60-62 stitches. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams with 1 strand of each quality. Sew in each and every stitch and make sure the seam is not tight. Cut 3 strands Sky + 3 strands Kid-Silk (= 6 strands) of 100 cm. Thread the strands through the piece inside the 2 double crochets on the side, approx. 22 cm above the bottom edge. Fold the strands double = 12 strands, and divide then into 3 bunches with 4 strands in each and plait them together. Tie a knot at the bottom of the plait to avoid it coming undone. Trim the ends. Repeat on the front/back pieces on each side of the piece. The vest is fastened by tying the plaits together in a bow. NECK: Start on the top of one shoulder and work 68 to 76 double crochets around the neck with 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands) and hook size 5.5 mm. Work in the round as follows: ROUND 1: Work 4 chain stitches (= 1 double treble crochet), 1 double treble crochet in each stitch and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the 4th chain stitch at the beginning of the round. ROUND 2: Work 1 chain stitch, 1 double crochet in each stitch and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch at the beginning of the round. Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until the neck measures approx. 8 cm – make sure you finish after a round of double crochets. Cut and fasten the strands. |
