------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for your size. DECREASE TIP-1 (evenly spaced): To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 72 stitches) and divide by number of decreases to be made (e.g. 12) = 6. In this example decrease by knitting each 5th and 6th stitch together. INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 210 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 4) = 52.5. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately each 52nd and 53rd stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP-2 (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. CASTING OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, top down. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle. NECK: Cast on 72-76-80-84-88-92 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and 1 strand Brushed Alpaca Silk + 1 strand Fabel (= 2 strands). Knit 1 round, then work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 3 cm. Knit 1 round where you decrease 12-10-12-12-12-16 stitches evenly spaced – read DECREASE TIP-1 = 60-66-68-72-76-76 stitches. Insert a marker thread here. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! YOKE: Change to circular needle size 6 mm. Work A.1 in the round – choose diagram for your size (= 30-33-34-36-38-38 repeats of 2 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been completed there are 210-231-238-252-266-304 stitches on the round and the piece measures approx. 19-19-23-23-23-29 cm. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 21-23-25-27-29-31 cm from the marker thread; at the same time on the last round increase 4-5-14-20-18-2 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 214-236-252-272-284-306 stitches. The next round is worked as follows: Work the first 32-35-37-41-44-48 stitches (= half back piece), place the next 42-47-51-54-54-57 stitches on a thread for sleeve and cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work the next 65-71-75-82-88-96 stitches (= front piece), place the next 42-47-51-54-54-57 stitches on a thread for sleeve and cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work the remaining 33-36-38-41-44-48 stitches (= half back piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 142-154-166-180-196-212 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches cast on under each sleeve. Work stocking stitch in the round. When the piece measures 25 cm from the division, work 1 round where you increase 22-22-22-24-28-32 stitches evenly spaced – remember INCREASE TIP = 164-176-188-204-224-244 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 3 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Make sure the cast-off edge is not tight – read CASTING OFF TIP. The jumper measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVE: Place the 42-47-51-54-54-57 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 6 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches cast on under the sleeve = 48-53-59-62-64-67 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches under the sleeve and start the round here. Work stocking stitch in the round. When the piece measures 4 cm from the division, decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP-2. Decrease like this every 4-3-2½-2-2-1½ cm a total of 9-11-13-14-14-15 times = 30-31-33-34-36-37 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 40-38-37-35-34-33 cm from the division (shorter measurements in larger sizes due to longer yoke). Knit 1 round where you increase 6-5-7-6-8-7 stitches evenly spaced = 36-36-40-40-44-44 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 3 cm. The sleeve measures approx. 43-41-40-38-37-36 cm from the division. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Make sure the cast-off edge is not tight – remember CASTING OFF TIP. |
