Mam 2 pytanie- 1. Przy wyrabianiu stopy „ gdy długość robótki wynosi 20/22/25 cm (od rzędu nabierania oczek) - czy chodzi o nabieranie oczek kapcia czy wyłogu? 2. „..zamknąć 1 o w każdej grupie ściegiem francuskim z wierzchu kapcia…”. Zupełnie nie rozumiem o jakie grupy chodzi. Pozdrawiam

Witaj Magdo, chodzi o wyłóg/wierzch kapcia. Pozdrawiamy!

Hej Tak for mange gode opskrifter, men denne driller. Venlig hilsen Hanne

Hi everyone! This pattern indeed has an error - the total length given is the length of foot! It has to be longer for felting shrinkage, so i calculated it more or less from the gauge before and after felting. I recommend making your slipper a size bigger but only in length (last decreases at further length). I did the size 38/40 and made it the total length of aprox. 27 cm for 24 after felting. Happy calculating and knitting!

Hi Marianna, you're right. Thank you for noticing, We will correct it. Happy knitting!

What is the total length of the slipper (heel to toe) after casting off, but BEFORE felting? It would be helpful to have the usual diagram with the dimensions given. Both before and after the felting process.
09.11.2020 - 17:52DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sarah, sorry we do not have these measurements and haven't get the slippers anymore - but they are fitting feet with a length of 22-24-27 cm - this means if your tension is right in both height and width, you should get fitting slippers. Read more about felting here. Happy knitting!

So let's just be clear here - should I knit the slippers a size larger than my real size for felting shrinkage?
09.04.2020 - 16:48DROPS Design answered:
Dear Zoya, you should choose your usual size, pattern is already written with the felting shrinkage - you can check your gauge: 21 sts x 42 rows in garter st before felting = 23 sts x 46 rows in garter st after felting = 10 x10 cm. Happy knitting!

For those wanting to know the mistake drops are ignoring. The pattern states the knitting length as the the length of the foot. It needs to be longer to allow for shrinkage after felting. I guess we have to work it out for ourselves.

It looks like there is a mistake in the pattern. It tells me to knit to 23cm to do the final 3st decrease followed by final 4 rows The foot length is 24cm. There is no allowance for felting shrinkage. I knitted toes and stripes slippers, it worked. The length for the same size is 28.5 cm. Note the tension information in toes and stripes pattern is different to this one despite it being the same yarn on se needles. is this why the slippers are to small when I knit them?
29.11.2019 - 17:02DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Beattie, the slippers are felted when finished, this means you need to work them somewhat longer and wider than they will be after felting - read more about felting here. Happy knitting!

I checked my knitting tension it's fine. I'm going to give up on these or try them when I have more felting experience as the guidence is not adequate for a novice felter

GARTER ST (back and forth): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. GARTER ST (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in pattern seen from RS. Choose diagram for correct size. DECREASE TIP: Dec 1 st in each side. All dec are done from RS! Dec at beg of row as follows: K 2 sts twisted tog. Dec at end of row as follows: K the last 2 sts tog. ---------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER: Worked back and forth on needle from mid back until instep, then make a flap. Then join the flap and the rest of the slipper, the rest of the foot is now worked in the round until finished measurements. Cast on 45-47-49 sts on needle size 4 mm with Lima and work in GARTER ST - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures 6-7-10 cm, dec 1 st in each side - READ DECREASE TIP! Repeat dec every 4th row (i.e. every other row from RS) a total of 6-6-6 times and then every other row (i.e. every row from RS) a total of 3-3-2 times = 27-29-33 sts on needle. After last dec K 1 row from WS, piece measures approx. 12-13-15 cm. Put piece aside. FLAP: Cast on 15-15-18 sts on needle size 4 mm. Work 2 ridges. Work next row as follows from RS: K 3-3-4, work 2 sts in each of the next 3 sts, K 3-3-4, work 2 sts in each of the next 3 sts and finish with K 3-3-4 = 21-21-24 sts. Work next row as follows from WS: K 3-3-4, P 6, K 3-3-4, P 6 and K 3-3-4. Then continue pattern according to diagram A.1. When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, put parts tog and work foot in the round. FOOT: Slip sts from the two parts tog on double pointed needles size 4 mm = 48-50-57 sts. Beg with flap and continue A.1 as before but when last st remains, K this twisted tog with first st on slipper, work in garter st until 1 st remains on round and K last st on round tog with first st in A.1. (= 2 sts dec). Continue in the round with A.1 and in garter st AT THE SAME TIME repeat dec on each side of A.1 every 6th round (i.e. on every cable round) 6-7-8 times in total. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 20-22-25 cm (measured from cast-on edge on slipper) dec 1 st in every section in garter st mid on top of foot (= 3 sts dec). Repeat dec when piece measures 21-23-26 cm. After all dec 30-30-35 sts remain on needle. On next round K tog all sts 2 by 2 = 15-15-18 sts. P 1 round. On next round K tog all sts 2 by 2 = 8-8-9 sts. P 1 round. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Sew slipper tog mid back in front loop of outermost sts. Knit another slipper the same way. FELTING: Place the slippers in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. Put on the slipper and shape it to the correct size while it is still wet. At subsequent wash, wash the slipper at regular wool programme. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
