Hello, in this part: "When piece measures 16 cm dec 2 sts mid back – read Dec. tip - every 5th cm a total of 7 times = 26 sts." Does it mean every 5th round or every 5 cm, because, the piece at this point measures 16 cm, adding 5 cm 7 times that makes 35 cm + 16 cm makes 51 cm. Then it states "When piece measures 48 cm keep the 7 first sts on needle, ..." I am not sure when I have to keep the first 7 sts on needle, when the piece measures 48 cm or when I reach the 7th decrease?

Dear Maria, you have to decrease on every 5th cm, this means 1st decrease after 16 cm, 2nd after 21 cm (5 cm afterwards), 3rd after 26 cm, 4th after 31 cm, 5th after 36 cm, 6th after 41 cm and 7th after 46 cm. Then continue until piece measures 48 cm and work heel. Happy knitting!

Du gör samma i andra sidan.

Decrease tip: Dec like this: start 4 sts before marking thread, K2 tog, K4 (marking thread placed in center of these sts), K2 twisted tog, i.e. knit in the back loops. Heel decrease: 1st row (= RS): Knit until 4-4-5 sts remains, K2 tog, turn piece. 2nd row (= WS): Knit until 4-4-5 sts remains, P2 tog, turn piece. 3rd row: Knit until 3-3-4 sts remains, K2 tog, turn piece. 4th row: Knit until 3-3-4 sts remains, P2 tog, turn pice. Continue dec like this by knitting until it remains 1 st less before you knit 2 sts tog, until there are 6 sts remaining on needle. Socks: Knit in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on loosely 36-40-44 sts on double pointed needles size 8 mm with Snow. K1 round. Put 1 marking thread in the beg on round = mid back. Then knit rib K2/ P2 until piece measures 12-13-14 cm. K1 round at the same time as dec 0-2-4 sts evenly distributed = 36-38-40 sts. Continue in stocking stitch. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 13-15-16 cm dec 2 sts mid back – read Dec. tip - every 5th cm a total of 7 times = 22-24-26 sts. When piece measures 44-46-48 cm keep the 6-6-7 first sts on needle, slip following 10-12-12 sts on 1 thread (= mid foot top) and keep the last 6-6-7 sts on needle = 12-12-14 sts for heel. Knit stocking stitch back and forth over heel sts for 5-6-7 cm. Then dec for heel – see Heel dec above. After heel dec pick up 6-7-8 sts on each side of heel and slip 10-12-12 sts on thread back on needle = 28-32-34 sts. Knit in the round on needles (the 12-12-14 sts on top of foot continues in stocking sts –the remaining sts under the foot purls). At the same time dec in each side like this: P the last 2 sts before the 12-12-14 sts on top of foot and the first 2 sts after the 12-12-14 sts on to of foot tog. Dec like this on every other round a total of 4 times = 20-24-26 sts. Continue with K on top of foot and P under the foot. When piece measures 19-21-23 cm from edge of heel (i.e. where heel dec starts) put 1 marking thread in each side (there should be 10-12-14 sts on top of foot and 10-12-12 sts under the foot). Work in stocking stitch over all sts at the same time as dec for toes on each side of both marking threads like this: K2 tog, K1, marking thread, K1, K2 twisted tog. Dec like this on every other row a total of 3 times and then on every row 0-1-1 time = 8-8-10 sts rem on needles. Next rounds knit all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut thread and pull trough remaining sts, pull tog and sew away threads. |
