Thanks for answering above. More questions. The dashes which represent chains...they are not indicative of the real number of chains. If I understand, the 12 dashes at the beginning of the rows are really 8 chains. How many chains are in the middle of the V stitches? It shows 1. Lastly, how many chains in between the "clusters"? it shows 4.

I actually figured it out! Helps to read the directions 😏. The triple treble wrap around 4 times and chain 4 = 12. It's all good. I understand the chart is true for number of chains. Have made several rows and it looks great.

The baby alpaca yarn you mention as a substitute, are you suggesting using two strands at once? Is the 400 grams total of both strands or just the one?
07.04.2020 - 02:59DROPS Design answered:
Dear Michelle, from the Baby Alpaca Silk yarn, you will need 400 gramms total, to use with the double strand. Happy Knitting!

How do you do the inc? I don't see an inc. Is it the every other row gets a 3rd trc at the end? I think there needs to be better wording for the trim too. And a few words for how to start the pattern. I can read the pattern chart well enough, but it's hard to tell where some stitches need to connect. I'm assuming the cluster on the end falls on the 4th chain?
26.06.2014 - 04:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Manda, you inc each side of the shawl by working 8 ch at beg of round (rounds 3, 5, 7..) and 4 ch + a triple tr at the end of row, on next row, you will have 1 dtr group more each side (rounds 4, 6, 8..). You start with 5ch, 1 sl st in 1st ch, then start with round 2: ch4, dtr2, ch1, dtr3 in ch-ring. Happy crocheting!

Crochet DROPS shawl in 1 thread Silke-Alpaca or 2 threads BabyAlpaca Silk
DROPS 99-12 |

Crochet tension: 2.5 tr groups in the width x 4 tr groups in the height, using hook size 6 mm and 1 thread Silke-Alpaca or 2 threads BabyAlpaca Silk = 10 x 10 cm. Pattern: See diagram M.1. The diagrams are seen from the RS. Measurement tips: Because of the weight of the yarn, all measurements should be made whilst the garment is hanging. Crochet tips: For a quadruple tr crochet the same way as done for a dtr (see school of crochet – page 3), but make 4 yo’s around the hook (instead of 2) before pulling the hook through the st in the work. Crochet info (apply for the crochet edge): Substitute the first dtr beg. of round with 4 ch. Shawl: - Read Crochet tips. Crochet 5 ch with 1 thread Alpaca-Silk or 2 threads BabyAlpaca Silk and make a ring with a sl st. Then crochet according to M.1 NB! Crochet all dtr around the ch-loops from previous row. After M.1 is completed continue the inc. at the sides the same way as done earlier until the piece measures 80 cm in the height. Crochet edge: - read crochet info! Crochet 1 row around all off the shawl as follows: Around the small loops (4 ch/dtr) from the shawl: 3 dtr, 1 ch. Around the big loops (8ch/ quadruple tr) from the shawl and the ring at the beginning of the shawl: *3 dtr, 1 ch*, repeat from *-* 2 times. Continue only to crochet along the sides of the shawl – not the top edge: 1st row: 1 dtr around the ch from previous row, *3 ch, skip 3 dtr, 1 dtr in the next ch*, repeat from *-*. Turn. 2nd. row: 2 dtr in the first dtr,* 4 ch, 2 dtr in the same dtr, 1 ch, 2 dtr in the next dtr*, repeat from *-* until finish round. |
