NECK WARMER: Knitting Tension: 10 sts x 14 rows on needles size 9 mm in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. Rib-1: *K3, P3*, repeat from *-*. Rib-2: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*. Garter sts (back and forth on needle): Knit all rows. Pattern: see diagram M.1 The diagram is seen from the right side. Increasing tips: Inc from the RS immediately after the knit sts by picking up st from previous row and P into back of st. Make the next inc right before the knit sts to alternate the inc to the left and the right of the P sts. Cast on 25 sts on needle size 9 mm with Snow. Knit 2 rows garter sts (1st row = RS) and continue in M.1 until piece measures approx 52 cm – adjust to 2 rows after a cable. Knit 2 rows garter sts and cast off. Rib: Pick up 59 sts from the RS along one of the longer sides (i.e. the side closets to the cable) on needle size 9 mm with Snow. Note! If picking up less/more sts adjust to 59 sts on the first row. K 1 row from WS and 1 row from RS. Continue in Rib-1 with 1 edge st in garter sts and K3 each side (seen from the RS). After 3 rows in Rib inc 1 st in each P section (seen from the RS) on every 4th row a total of 3 times, Rib measures 7 cm – see Increasing tips. Cast off loosely in Rib. Button band: Pick up approx 29 to 35 sts from the RS (divisible by 2 + 1) along one of the shorter sides on needle size 9 mm in Snow. K 1 row from WS and 1 row from RS. Continue in Rib-2 with 1 edge st and K1 each side (seen from the right side) Cast off loosely in Rib when band measures approx 2.5 cm. Repeat along the other short side, but make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed, the first and last one approx 1 cm from the edge. 1 buttonhole = K2 tog and make a yo. On the returning row knit into back of yo. Sew on buttons. HAT: Knitting Tension: 10 sts x 14 rows on needles size 9 mm in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. Rib: *K2, P5*, repeat from *-*. Garter sts (round on needle): Knit 1 round, P 1 round. Cast on 56 sts on double pointed needles size 9 mm with Snow and knit 6 rounds garter sts – see above. Continue in Rib. When piece measures 10 cm dec by P tog 2 sts in each P section = 48 sts. Continue in Rib (K2/P4). Repeat the dec when piece measures approx 15 cm = 40 sts and 20 cm = 32 sts. When piece measures approx 23 cm knit all sts tog 2 by 2 = 16 sts. Repeat the dec on next round = 8 sts. Cut the thread and pull through remaining sts. Sew. Pompon: Make a pompon with a diameter of approx 8 cm and attach to the top of hat. For pompon instructions please see Garnstudio’s Tutorial Videos. |
