In the decrease section after working the heel, where you’re supposed to do k2tog before mark and k2togbl after mark each round 5 times and then every other round 6 times leaves you with total of 44 st decreased. each round you decrease 4st and are supposed to make 11 rounds of decreasing, there is no way im starting with 68 and ending with 46 stitches after the decrease rounds if i decrease 44st.. please explain and/or fix the pattern, thank you

Hi Emma, You decrease 1 stitch before the first marker on top of the foot and decrease 1 stitch after the second marker (2 stitches decreased on the round). You decrease a total of 11 times = 22 stitches decreased, leaving you with 46 stitches on the needles. Happy knitting!

Hej Anneli. Du har 64 maskor och minskar sedan 2 maskor x 5, och sedan 2 maskor x 6. 64-10-12 = 42 maskor. Mvh DROPS Design

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until 6-6-9 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until 6-6-9 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until 5-5-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until 5-5-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. Continue decrease like this with 1 stitch less before each decrease until there are 12-12-14 stitches on needle. DECREASE TIP: Begin 3 stitches before marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles from leg down to toe. LEG: Cast on 48-52-60 stitches on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm with DROPS Fiesta. Work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 15-16-17 cm. Now work in stocking stitch and rib like this from beginning of round, work 2 stitches in stocking stitch (= belongs to heel), work rib as before (begin with 2 purl) over the next 26-30-30 stitches (end with 2 purl), work in stocking stitch the rest of round. Remember to follow the knitting tension! Work like this until piece measures 16-17-18 cm. Now work heel and foot as explained below. HEEL AND FOOT: Work 2 stitches in stocking stitch, work rib as before over the next 26-30-30 stitches and slip them on a thread (mid on top of foot), and work the rest of row in stocking stitch = 22-22-30 stitches for heel. Continue back and forth in stocking stitch over heel stitches for 6-6-6½ cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of last row - measure piece from this marker later. Work in HEEL DECREASE - read explanation above. After heel decrease work next round as follows: Work in stocking stitch over the 12-12-14 heel stitches, pick up 13-13-14 stitches along the side of heel, work rib over the 26-30-30 stitches from thread on top of foot, and pick up 13-13-14 stitches along the other side of heel = 64-68-72 stitches. Work until mid under heel – round now begins here. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 26-30-30 stitches on top of foot. Work in stocking stitch under foot and rib as before on top of foot while at the same time decreasing in each side as follows: Knit the last 2 stitches before first marker on top of foot together and knit the first 2 stitches after last marker on top of foot twisted together. Decrease like this on every round 5-5-5 times in total, and then on every other round 6-6-6 times in total = 42-46-50 stitches. Work until piece measures 17-18-20 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot. Now work the rest of piece in stocking stitch. Work until piece measures 18-19-21 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot. 4-5-5 cm remain until finished measurements, try the sock on for desired length before decreasing for toes as explained below. TOE: Insert 1 marker in each side of sock so that there are 20-22-24 stitches on top of foot and 22-24-26 stitches under foot. Work in stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME on first round decrease for toes on each side of both markers – read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this on every other round 4-5-5 times in total and then on every round 4-4-5 times in total = 10-10-10 stitches remain. Cut the yarn and pull yarn through stitches, tighten together and fasten. The sock measures approx. 22-24-26 cm from marker on heel – measured under foot. |
