Knitted hat and wrist warmers with cables in DROPS Flora.

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- DECREASE/INCREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to decrease/increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 120 stitches) and divide stitches by number of decreased/increases to be done (e.g. 10) = 12. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after every 12th stitch. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. If decreasing knit every 11th and 12th stitch together. PATTERN: Hat: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Wrist warmers: See diagrams A.4 and A.5. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on a short circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 120 stitches on a short circular needle size 2.5 mm with Flora. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 4 cm. Knit 1 round while at the same time decrease 10 stitches evenly - read INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 110 stitches. Knit 1 round. Switch to a short circular needle size 3 mm and A.1 in the round (= 5 repetitions of 22 stitches). When A.1 has been worked vertically, there are 140 stitches on row. Work next round as follows: * Work A.2A (= 4 stitches), work A.2B (= 6 stitches), work A.2C (= 8 stitches), work A.2B (= 6 stitches) and work A.2A (= 4 stitches) *, work from *-* 5 times in total. Continue pattern like this upwards. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.2C has been worked 6 times in total vertically, piece measures approx. 23 cm from cast-on edge and approx. 3 cm remain until finished measurements. Now begin decrease at the top of hat. Work A.3 in the round (= 5 repetitions of 28 stitches). When A.3 has been worked vertically, there are 45 stitches on row. Knit 2 rounds where all stitches are knitted together 2 by 2 on both rounds = 12 stitches remain. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 26 cm from top and down. ---------------------------------------------------------- WRIST WARMERS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. WRIST WARMERS: Cast on 56 stitches on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with Flora. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 2 to 2½ cm. Knit 1 round while at the same time decrease 6 stitches evenly - read INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 50 stitches. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Then work A.4 (= 50 stitches). When A.4 has been worked vertically, there are 54 stitches on row. Then work A.5 in the round over the 54 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When wrist warmer measures approx. 15 cm, knit 1 round while decreasing 4 stitches evenly over the big cable = 50 stitches remain. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Knit 1 round while increasing 6 stitches evenly = 56 stitches. Work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 2 to 2½ cm. Loosely cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Wrist warmer now measures approx. 18 cm from cast-on edge. Work the other wrist warmer the same way. |
