You’ve got to be kidding right - your capelet pattern is incomprehensible. I will be sticking to English patterns from now on. Too bad it is a nice pattern.

Do I work the 64 st and if where yarn cut is back the front has to be sewn up and how to you get the back?????? This is the most confusing pattern I've ever seen and asked 2 knitters of 30 ( Exactly this passage: Work 63-64-67 sts, cut the yarn and turn piece. This is now beg of row (= mid back). Then work in garter st back and forth over all sts from here, ie work over previous beg of row = 94-96-100 sts. How do I do this? I cut the thread and turn cap but then I got a hole in the middle!

Dear Mrs Carlson, this part of the pattern has been edited, thanks for the info. You will have to cut the yarn after the first 10 sts have been cast off, insert a marker to mark the new beg of the rows and now work back and forth from the marker. See correction text. Happy knitting!

Har stickat 47 cm som angivet på halsvärmare. Rätstickning fram och tillbaka. Hur fortsätter jag? Är den i flera delar? Hur många?

Hej.

Correction faite, merci. Bon tricot!

Knitted DROPS neck warmer, hat and mittens in garter st in 2 strands ”Alpaca”.
DROPS 157-43 |
|
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. GARTER ST (in the round on double pointed needles): * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds. KNITTING TIP: Every time piece is turned in the middle of piece, slip first st as if to K, tighten yarn and return, this is done to avoid holes in the transitions. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st by making a YO. On next row K YO twisted (i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front) to avoid holes. ------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER: Work the piece sideways. Cast on 64-72-80 sts on needle size 3.5 mm with 1 strand medium grey + 1 strand light grey = 2 strands. Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above - for 4 cm (= band). Continue in garter st AT THE SAME TIME work short rows as follows, beg from RS: * Work 8 sts, turn – READ KNITTING TIP – and work back, work 38-46-56 sts, turn and work back, work 48-56-64 sts, turn and work back, work 2 rows over all sts *, repeat from *-*. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures approx. 43-45-47 cm at the top in the neck (i.e. the shorter side of piece) – finish after 1 whole repetition with short rows – work in garter st over all sts for 4 cm (= band). When piece measures approx. 47-49-51 cm at the top and approx. 125-131-137 cm measured along the edge at the bottom inside 4 cm (= wave edge). ASSEMBLY: Place right band over left band and sew on 5 buttons for decoration. Sew through both layers (beg 2 cm from neck edge, approx. 6½-7½-8½ cm between each button). ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 104-106-110 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with 1 strand medium grey + 1 strand light grey = 2 strands. P 1 row from WS and K 1 row from RS. Continue in GARTER ST - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 4 cm, cast off 10 sts at beg of row from RS (overlap) = 94-96-100 sts. Cut the yarn. Insert a marker after the first 63-64-67 sts. Rows will now start here (mid back). There are 31-32-33 sts after the marker. Start at the marker and work garter stitch back and forth over all 94-96-100 sts, ie knit over where the start of row was before. When piece measures 12 cm, dec 8 sts evenly = 86-88-92 sts. Repeat dec when piece measures 16 cm = 78-80-84 sts. When piece measures 18 cm, dec 10 sts evenly every 2 cm 4 times in total = 38-40-44 sts. When piece measures 25 cm, work all sts tog 2 by 2 = 19-20-22 sts. On next row work all sts tog 2 by 2 one more time = 10-10-11 sts remain on row. Pull yarn through the remaining sts and fasten. ASSEMBLY: Sew hat tog mid back - sew edge to edge in outer loops of edge sts. Place over piece over the hat, and sew on 2 buttons for decoration through both layers at the edge of edge. ---------------------------------------------------------- MITTEN: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 45-47-49 sts on needle size 4 mm with 1 strand medium grey + 1 strand light grey = 2 strands. Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 4 cm, dec 10 sts at beg of row from WS (overlap) = 35-37-39 sts. When piece measures 8½-9½-10 cm - adjust so that next row is from RS, insert 1 marker in the 18th-19th-20th st. Now inc for thumb gusset as follows: Inc 1 st in each side of st with marker - READ INCREASE TIP. Repeat inc outside the inc sts every 4th row 5-6-7 times in total = 45-49-53 sts. When piece measures 15½-16½-18 cm, slip the 11-13-15 thumb sts on 1 stitch holder. On next row, cast on 1 new st behind thumb sts = 35-37-39 sts remain on needle. Work until piece measures 23-24-26 cm. On next row from RS dec as follows: Dec 3 sts evenly = 32-34-36 sts. K 3 rows. On next row, dec 4 sts evenly = 28-30-32 sts. Repeat dec with 4 sts every other row 4 more times = 12-14-16 sts. K 1 row. On next row, K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 6-7-8 sts. Cut the yarn. Pull yarn through the remaining sts and fasten. THUMB: Slip the 11-13-15 sts over thumb gusset on double pointed needles size 4 mm and pick in addition up 2 sts in edge behind the thumb sts = 13-15-17 sts. Work in GARTER ST in the round on double pointed needles - see explanation above. When thumb measures 5-5½-6 cm, work all sts tog 2 by 2 = 7-8-9 sts. On next round work all sts tog 2 by 2 one more time = 4-4-5 sts. Cut the yarn. Pull yarn through the remaining sts and fasten. ASSEMBLY: Sew mitten tog in the side down to over piece - sew edge to edge in outer loops of edge sts so that the seam is flat. Sew on 2 buttons for decoration at the edge of over piece through both layers. LEFT MITTEN: Work as right mitten but reversed. I.e. dec 10 sts for over piece at beg of row from RS. |
