This large cowl tunic is just want I wanted. Versatile; I can change yarns to make for summer and winter. Again, so nice to see texture without so many cables.

GARTER ST: K all rows. PATTERN: See diagram M.1 (the diagram shows the pattern from RS) DECREASE TIP: Dec 1 st in a P section as follows: P 1, P 2 tog. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st in a K section as follows: K 2, make a YO. On next round K YO twisted (i.e. work in the back loop of st instead of front) to avoid holes. -------------------------------------------------------- BODY: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 190-210-230-260-280-300 sts on circular needle 4.5 mm with 1 thread Merino Extra Fine and 1 thread Kid-Silk. On 1st round, work rib as follows: * K 2, P 3 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Work rib for 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm. On next round, dec 1 st in every P section - Read decrease tip above = 152-168-184-208-224-240 sts. Then switch to circular needle size 5 mm and work next round as follows: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* a total of 4-4-4-5-5-5 times, K 2 (= 18-18-18-22-22-22 sts rib in the side), work diagram M.1 a total of 14-16-18-20-22-24 times, 2 first sts in diagram M.1 (= 58-66-74-82-90-98 sts textured pattern), * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* a total of 4-4-4-5-5-5 times, K 2 (= 18-18-18-22-22-22 sts rib in the side), then work diagram M.1 a total of 14-16-18-20-22-24 times, finish round with the first 2 sts in diagram M.1 (= 58-66-74-82-90-98 sts textured pattern). Continue like this until diagram M.1 has been worked 6 times (= approx. 10 cm) vertically, then work in stocking st between ribs in each side for 10 cm. Work 10 cm textured pattern and 10 cm in stocking st alternately between ribs in each side until finished measurements. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 50-51-52-53-54-55 cm, insert 2 markers in piece as follows: Insert a marker in the middle of rib in each side = 9-9-9-11-11-11 sts rib on each side of both markers. Now divide the piece at the markers and finish each part separately. BACK PIECE: = 76-84-92-104-112-120 sts. Then continue to work back and forth on needle. Work next row (= RS) as follows: Size S, M, L: 1 edge st in garter st, * P 2, K 2 *, repeat from *-* a total of 2 times (= 8 sts rib), work until 9 sts remain on needle, * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* a total of 2 times (= 8 sts rib), finish with 1 edge st in garter st. Size XL, XXL, XXXL: 1 edge st in garter st, * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* a total of 2 times, K 2 (= 10 sts rib), work until 11 sts remain on needle, * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* a total of 2 times, K 2 (= 10 sts rib), finish with 1 edge st in garter st. NOTE: The middle sts between ribs are worked 10 cm textured pattern and 10 cm in stocking st alternately until finished measurements. All sizes: Continue with 1 edge st in garter st and 8-8-8-10-10-10 sts in rib in each side of piece until piece measures 68-70-72-74-76-78 cm. On next row, cast off the middle 20-20-24-24-28-28 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off 2 sts on next row from neck = 26-30-32-38-40-44 sts remain on shoulder. Loosely cast off when piece measures 70-72-74-76-78-80 cm. FRONT PIECE: = 76-84-92-104-112-120 sts. Worked back and forth on needle as on back piece. When piece measures 52-54-55-57-58-60 cm, cast off the middle 14-14-16-16-18-18 sts for neckline and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off at the beg of every row from neck as follows: Cast of 2 sts 1 time for all sizes, then 1 st a total of 3-3-4-4-5-5 times = 26-30-32-38-40-44 sts remain on each shoulder. Continue until piece measures 70-72-74-76-78-80 cm, then loosely cast off all sts. SLEEVE: Worked back and forth on circular needle with 1 thread Merino Extra Fine and 1 thread Kid-Silk. Cast on 70-74-74-78-82-86 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm and work rib as follows: 1 edge st in garter st, * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 edge st in garter st. Work rib for 4 cm in all sizes. Then switch to circular needle size 5 mm and continue with stocking st with 1 edge st in garter st in each side. When piece measures 14-14-14-13-13-13 cm (shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of broader shoulder width) loosely cast off all sts. Work another sleeve. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams tog. Sew sleeves tog inside 1 edge st and sew in sleeves. COLLAR: Worked in the round on circular needle size 4.5 mm with 1 thread Merino Extra Fine and 1 thread Kid-Silk. Beg mid back, knit up approx. 120-140 sts around the neckline. On next round, adjust no of sts to 120-120-128-128-136-144 while at the same time K all sts. On next round, work rib as follows: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire round (= 30-30-32-32-34-36 K sections). Continue with rib until piece measures 19-19-19-20-20-20 cm. On next round, inc 1 st in every K section - Read increase tip above = 150-150-160-160-170-180 sts. Continue with rib (= K 3, P 2) until piece measures 38-38-39-39-40-40 cm. Then loosely cast off all sts with K over K and P over P. |
