I'm lost on sizing. Looking to knit some for a toddler. Not sure if 21 is big or small. It doesn't seem like European sizing to me. Maybe I'm wrong?
19.12.2022 - 03:30DROPS Design answered:
Hi Lindsay, Size 21 is 13 cm in foot-length and for babies aged 1-2 years. Size 23 is 14.3 cm in foot-length and for children aged 1.5-3 years. Hope this helps and happy knitting!

Hi, Where the pattern says: "Fold slipper double, WS towards WS, and sew tog mid back in outer loops of sts" what is meant by "outer loops"? Thanks!
31.03.2021 - 21:10DROPS Design answered:
Dear Robin, the edge stitch has a loop toward the knitting and another to the opposite side, the loop toward the end of the row. That is the outer loop. In other word, insted of sewing under the two line, you oonly need to "scoop" one thread with your needle / stitch. We do this so the seam wil not be too tick, but lays flat. Happy Crafting!

Merci!

Bonjour Mme Joubert, 20 cm correspondent à du 32/34 et 22 cm à du 35/37. Bon tricot!

SLIPPERS: Worked in one piece from the top of leg, and sewn tog mid upper foot and mid back afterwards. Loosely cast on 19-20-21-23 (24-25-26-28) sts on needle size 8 mm with off-white or turquoise. K 5 rows. Change to dark grey if started with off-white and and continue in stocking st, AT THE SAME TIME on first row dec 2 sts evenly = 17-18-19-21 (22-23-24-26) sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 13-15-15-17 (17-17-19-19) cm cast on new sts for foot at the end of every row from RS: 2 sts 2-2-2-2 (3-4-6-7) times and 1 st 1-2-3-3 (3-3-2-2) times = 22-24-26-28 (31-34-38-42) sts. When piece measures 37-40-43-47 (50-53-55-57) cm cast off sts at the beg of every row from WS: 1 st 1-2-3-3 (3-3-2-2) times and 2 sts 2-2-2-2 (3-4-6-7) times = 17-18-19-21 (22-23-24-26) sts. Continue until piece measures 52-58-63-69 (73-75-73-86) cm. P 1 row from WS, AT THE SAME TIME inc 2 sts evenly = 19-20-21-23 (24-25-26-28) sts. Change to off-white or continue with turquoise. K 5 rows (first row = RS) and cast off loosely. ASSEMBLY: Fold slipper double, WS towards WS, and sew tog mid back in outer loops of sts. Sew in the same way mid upper foot- and up along the leg but if there should be a split at mid front don't sew all the way up. Turn piece inside out, i.e. WS is now RS. FELTING: The piece can be felted either in the washing machine or the tumble dryer – read description below. Remember: Subsequent washes are as for a normal wool garment. IN WASHING MACHINE: Washing machines will vary when felting. If the piece is not felted enough, it can be felted again. If it is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in the washing machine, using a programme of approx. 40 minutes (not a wool programme). Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash, detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while it is still wet. IN TUMBLE DRYER: Felting in a tumble dryer gives good control over the degree of felting. The tumble dryer can be opened during drying to check the size of the piece. If it is not felted enough it can be thoroughly wetted and felted again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in water so it becomes completely wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin the drying process. Dry to the desired size, checking regularly. AFTER FELTING: Fold approx 3 to 5 cm at the top of leg towards RS. |
