"dec by skipping over second sts from edge". Not sure how to do this, I've watched the decrease video which seems to be the same as casting off. But if cast off 2nd stitch does this not leave a hole? Thanks in advance.
29.08.2012 - 15:04DROPS Design answered:
Dear Louise, you will have to dec on the side by skipping the 2nd st at the beginning of row from the side, just don't work in the 2nd st = skip it. Happy crocheting!

I have 2 questions. 1, how many yarns off the safran do's this garment take, 2 question can this garment be made in double knit wool or not. Thanks kath
16.07.2012 - 14:38DROPS Design answered:
To make this it takes 4-5-5-6 skeins depending on size. We can't help with recommendations of substitute yarns outside our own range.

I'm just starting this and fallen at first hurdle :-) Back piece says "repeat from *-* until end of row = 74-82-94-106 sc. Continue with Pattern – see explanation above, until complete measurement" Does this mean I continue the repeat until I have done 106 sc (plus missed ch's) in the XL size? And do I then turn and start with first row of pattern i.e."Crochet 1 dc in each stitch, finish row with 1 ch to turn with"?
08.06.2012 - 22:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lesley, when you have worked the first row as indicated, you will have a total of 106 sc. You then just have to follow the 2 rows of the pattern as indicated above. Start every dc row with 3 ch and every sc row with 1 ch. Happy crocheting !

I'm having a problem with the Right Front Piece. I'm ready to start bind off for the neckline. When I bind off 12 sts mid-front for neck, will I be starting from the center or on the side and will the 12 sts be on a DC row or a SC row?
05.03.2012 - 01:55DROPS Design answered:
You bind off the 12 sts from the center. In smaller sizes you cont to bind off on every row and on larger sizes you bind of on every other row. There is a tip in beg of pattern telling how to bind off in beg of row, and at the end of a row.

After I've crocheted the first row, do I follow the second row of the pattern and continue from there or do I crochet the first row and then double crochet in each stitch? And I'm assuming I would then need to ch 3 at the end of the first row if I did.
21.02.2012 - 20:54DROPS Design answered:
When you start pattern, you start with first row in pattern. First dc is replaced by ch 3.

When you dec on every third row 3 times, does this mean you'll be dec on a sc row as well as a dc row?

Lori, when you get there you work first the first shoulder only, then when that one is done, then you work the other shoulder on the other side and just do not work at all over the middle sts. To bind off for the neck you crochet until number of sts left equals number of sts to be bound off and then turn piece and work back.

I have a similar question to ones listed below. On the back piece it says to bind off when you get to 18 stiches on each side. I'm looking for a video on how to bind off in a middle of the row. Also in order to continue on you must have to work with a ball of yarn on each side to continue on for the shoulders? Am I correct/

Crochet tension; 20 tr/dc in width and 13 rows pattern in height using hook size 3.5 mm and Safran = 10 x 10 cm Pattern: 1st row (= RS): Crochet 1 tr in each st, finish row with 1 ch to turn with. 2nd row: Crochet 1 dc in each st, finish row with 3 ch to turn with. Repeat 1st and 2nd rows. Cast off tips (applies to armhole and neck): Cast off at beginning of row as follows: Crochet sl st at over number of sts to be cast off. Cast off at end of row as follows: Crochet until number of sts left = number of sts to be cast off, turn piece. Fan pattern; Crochet in first st: 1 tr, 1 picot (= 3 ch, 1 dc in first ch), 1 tr, 1 picot and 1 tr, * skip 2 sts, 1 sl st in next st, skip 2 sts (in loops at neck and armhole skip 3 sts to ensure neat edge), crochet in next st: 1 tr, 1 picot, 1 tr, 1 picot, 1 tr *, repeat from *-*. Back piece: Crochet 93-103-118-133 ch (incl 1 ch to turn with) on crochet hook size 3.5 mm. 1st row as follows: 1 dc in 2nd ch from crochet hook, 1 dc in next ch, * skip 1 ch, 1 dc in each of next 4 ch *, repeat from *-* until end of row = 74-82-94-106 dc. Continue with Pattern – see explanation above, until complete measurement. When piece measures 5-5-6-6 cm dec by skipping over second sts from edge on each side on every 3rd row 3 times in total = 68-76-88-100 sts. When piece measures 15-16-17-18 cm inc 1 st on each side by crocheting 2 sts in second sts from edge on each side on every other row 8-8-7-6 times on total = 84-92-102-112 sts. When piece measures 32-33-34-35 cm cast off for armhole on each side on each row – see Cast off tips: 3 sts 1-1-2-2 times, 2 sts 1-2-2-4 times and 1 st 2-3-3-3 times = 70-72-76-78 sts. When piece measures 47-49-51-53 cm continue crocheting over 18-19-20-21 sts on one side for shoulder. Continuing cast off at neckline on every row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times = 14-15-16-17 sts left in shoulder. Cut thread when piece measures 50-52-54-56 cm. Crochet other shoulder similarly. Right front piece: Crochet 46-51-58-66 ch (incl 1 ch to turn with) on crochet hook size 3.5 mm. 1st row as follows: 1 dc in 2nd ch from crochet hook, 1 dc in each of next 4-4-6-4 ch, * skip 1 ch, 1 dc in each of next 4 ch *, repeat from *-* til end of row = 37-41-47-53 dc. Now crochet Pattern like on back piece. Dec and inc in side like back piece = 42-46-51-56 sts, when piece measures 30-31-32-33 cm cast off for neckline. (If neckline should not be deep, wait with dec for 3-3-4-4 cm). Size S and M: Cast off on each row. Size L and XL: Cast off on every other row. Cast off 12-12-13-13 sts mid front for neck, then cast off to shape neckline 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 5 times. At the same time when piece measures 32-33-34-35 cm cast off for armhole like back piece. After completing all cast offs for armhole and neck 14-15-16-17 sts are left on shoulder. Cut thread when piece measures 50-52-54-56 cm. Left front piece: Crochet like right but reversed. Assembly: Sew side seams in outermost edge with 1 sts in each sts. Sew shoulder seams the same way. Left front edge: Crochet approx 60-62-64-66 dc along left front piece – ensure sts are not too tight or too wavy but lying flat along edge. Now crochet 1 row tr, 1 row dc and 1 row tr. Crochet next round as follows: In first tr crochet: 1 dc, 1 picot (= 3 ch, 1 dc in first ch) and 1 dc, * skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st, skip 1 st, in next st crochet: 1 dc, 1 picot and 1 dc *, repeat from *-*. Right front edge: Crochet as left front edge but on 3rd row (= dc) make 7 buttonholes evenly as follows: 2 ch, skip 2 tr, on next row crochet 2 tr in ch loop – place upper most and bottom most buttonhole 1 cm from edges. Fan pattern: Crochet fan pattern – see explanation above around armhole, at bottom edge and neckline. Sew in buttons. |
