Hi, I am working on the back piece in size M. The pattern says to work short rows as on front piece and this is done before casting off the middle stitches. If I follow the pattern for short rows across all 94 stitches, the diagonal shoulder only appears on one shouder. How do I do short rows for the other shoulder? Hoping you can help. Thanks

Dear Po-Suan, work as the front piece but with the short rows on each side, even if you are working them all together. When casting off the stitches for the neck, continue working the rest of the stitches for each shoulder separately, with the short rows, exactly like in the front piece. Happy knitting!

Hi, thanks for your reply. How would you cast off stitches from the neck? Do you use K2 tog or SSK or just usual cast-off? Is there a video that I can follow? What happens to the slipped middle stitches? When do we cast these off? Sorry for the trouble. Thanks again!

Dear Pro-Suan Lim, just cast off the usual way - you will pick up stitches along whole neckline for neck edge. Happy knitting!

Hi, On the front piece where it says "cast off stitches on every row from neck: cast off 2 sts 2 times and 1st 2 times. " After slipping middle stitches for neck, do you cast off 2 sts from the neck on the next row ? Then another 2 sts on the following row? How about the statement "1st 2 times"? Does this mean cast off the first stitch on the following row? Thanks for your help.
05.03.2023 - 05:29DROPS Design answered:
Dear Po-Suan Lim, after slipping the middle stitches, cast off 2 sts on each of the next 2 rows from the neck, then cast off 1 st on each of the next 2 rows from the neck. Happy knitting!

Kan man sticka slipovern på raka stickor? Varför rundsticka?
29.01.2022 - 09:45DROPS Design answered:
Hei Lena. Du kan fint strikke med parpinner, mange syns det er enklere å strikke med rundpinne selv om det strikkes frem og tilbake. Når du skal strikke halskanten trenger du rundpinne, da det strikkes rundt. mvh DROPS Design

Ainaoikeinneulottu liivi sivuhalkioilla DROPS Fabel- ja DROPS Kid-Silk -langoista. Koot S-XXXL. Teen tuota liiviä, vaihdoinKid-silk langan Baby albaka silk lankaan.

GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. * Knit 1 round and purl 1 round *, repeat from *-*. GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. SHORT ROWS: Work short rows, begin from neck towards armhole. Tighten yarn at every turn to avoid holes. ---------------------------------------------------------- VEST: Worked back and forth on circular needle in parts and sewn tog when finished. Back piece is 10 cm longer than front piece. FRONT PIECE: Cast on 80-86-92-100-110-120 sts with 1 strand Fabel and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) on circular needle size 5 mm. Work in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures 10 cm, cast on 1 new st at the end of the next 2 rows (marks vent) = 82-88-94-102-112-122 sts. Continue to work until piece measures 44-45-46-47-48-49 cm. Now cast on 3 new sts at the end of the next 2 rows for sleeves = 88-94-100-108-118-128 sts. When piece measures 58-60-61-63-64-66 cm, slip the middle 14-14-14-16-16-16 sts on a stitch holder for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Then cast off sts on every row from neck as follows: Cast off 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2 times = 31-34-37-40-45-50 sts remain for each shoulder. When piece measures 62-64-66-68-70-72 cm, work SHORT ROWS - see explanation above, for diagonal shoulder towards armhole as follows: Work fewer and fewer sts towards armhole as follows: ROW 1: Work until 4-5-5-6-6-6 sts remain. ROW 2: Turn and work back. ROW 3: Work until 7-8-9-10-11-12 sts remain. ROW 4: Turn and work back. ROW 5: Work until 10-11-13-14-16-18 sts remain. ROW 6: Turn and work back. ROW 7: Work until 12-14-16-18-21-24 sts remain. ROW 8: Turn and work back. ROW 9: Work until 14-17-19-22-26-30 sts remain. ROW 10: Turn and work back. When all short rows have been worked, work 1 ridge over all sts for shoulder. Cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way. BACK PIECE: Cast on and work in garter stitch as front piece. When piece measures 20 cm, cast on 1 new st at the end of the next 2 rows (marks vent) = 82-88-94-102-112-122 sts. Continue to work until piece measures 54-55-56-57-58-59 cm. Now cast on 3 new sts at the end of the next 2 rows for sleeves = 88-94-100-108-118-128 sts. Continue with garter st. When piece measures 72-74-76-78-80-82 cm, work short rows for diagonal shoulder towards armholes as on front piece, AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 74-76-78-80-82-84 cm cast off the middle 24-24-24-26-26-26 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Then cast off 1 st on the next row from neck = 31-34-37-40-45-50 sts remain for each shoulder. When short rows have been worked, work 1 ridge over all sts for shoulder. Cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams with grafting/kitchener sts inside cast-off edge. Then sew the 3 sts cast on under sleeves and side seams in one down to vent in each side (i.e. until 10 cm remain on front piece and 20 cm on back piece for vent). Sew in outer loops of edge sts to avoid a chunky seam. NECK EDGE: Pick up from right side approx. 65-75 sts (incl sts from stitch holder) with 1 strand Fabel and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) on circular needle size 5 mm. Work 2 ridges in the round. Then knit 1 round before casting off. |
