Dag Nada,

How do I find out how much yarn to buy? Thanks.

Dear Mrs Kiper, you will find total weight of required yarn for each size at the right side of the picture. DROPS Silke Tweed is discontinued, click on tab "alternative" for suggestion and here to calculate amount of yarn required in the alternative. Happy knitting!

Je moet het patroon als volgt breien: 2 recht op de goede kant = 2 averecht op de verkeerde kant - en - 2 averecht op de goede kant = 2 recht op de verkeerde kant. Succes ;o)

Always keep to the knitting tension, if the work is too loose the garment will slacken. The silk must not be machine washed! Tension: 23 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm with needle size 3.5 mm and pattern M.2. Remember needle size is only a guide! Pattern: See diagram M.1 and M.2. Ridge (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge = 2 rows. 1st row: K, 2nd row: K. Front piece: Cast on 94-102-110-118-126 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) with needle size 2.5 mm and Silke. Work M.1 - NOTE: 1 edge st in each side is not worked in to the pattern. After M.1 change to needle size 3.5 mm and continue with M.2 to finished length. Remember knitting tension! When the piece measures 6 cm inc 1 st in each side every 7-7-7-8-8 cm in total 4 times = 102-110-118-126-134 sts - the inc sts must be worked in to the pattern! When the piece measures 34-35-36-37-38 cm cast off for armholes in each side every 2nd row: 4 sts 0-1-1-1-1 time, 3 sts 1-1-1-1-2 times, 2 sts 1-1-2-3-4 times and 1 st 7-7-9-9-8 times = 78-78-78-82-82 sts. Continue pattern with 1 st in ridges in each side. When the piece measures 42-43-44-45-46 cm cast off the middle 26 sts for neck. Continue to cast off on each side of neck every 2nd row: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2 times = 20-20-20-22-22 sts remain on each shoulder. Continue the pattern with 1 st ridges towards neck. Cast off when the piece measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60 cm - adjust to 1 complete square. Back piece: Cast on and work as for front piece. Cast off for armholes as for front piece - at the same time when the piece measures 39-41-42-42-43 cm divide the piece mid back for slit and put half the sts on a thread. Left side (when the top is worn): Continue to cast off for armholes and with M.2, but the outermost 2 sts towards slit are worked in ridges. When the piece measures 47-49-50-52-53 cm cast off 13 sts towards mid back for neck. Continue to cast off towards neck every 2nd row: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2 times = 20-20-20-22-22 sts remain on the shoulder. Cast off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm. Right side: Place the sts on the thread back on the needle and work as for left side - 1st row is worked from mid back; i.e. on WS - start by picking up 1 st in the slit and work this tog with 1 st on the needle (this is so that there will not be a gap at the bottom of the slit). Cast off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams and side seams inside the 1 edge st. Opening: Crochet a button loop at top of left side at back of the slit as follows (work on WS): 1 dc, 3 ch, skip 1 cm and fasten with 1 dc. Turn the piece and work 3 dc around the ch-loop, finish with 1 sl st in the first dc from the previous row. Sew on the button at the top of other side of slit. Neck: Crochet with hook size 3 mm and Cotton Viscose round the neck - start middle back as follows: 1 dc in first st * 3 ch, skip approx. 1 cm, 1 dc in the next st *, repeat from *-*. Armhole: Work in the same way as around the neck and finish with 1 sl st in the first st at beg of round. |
