Thank you for your very prompt answer. However, I really think that information should be included in the pattern. For inexperienced knitters it is vital information as edge stitches are not always required. Can you change the pattern to include the information, please.

Thank you for answering my last question. But it was actually the wrong question. I started again knitting the pattern. The pattern is worked over 12 stitches (requiring 4 stitches for each repeat), but when I cast on 90 stitches, I have 6 stitches left. In row one, once you use up the last 6 stitches, you will always have 2 left over. What do you do with these 2 stitches? Should you not be working with multiples of 4. 6 does not work. Thank you.

Dear Oona, work the 90 sts as follows: 1 edge stitch, repeat diagram (a total of 22 repeats of the 4 stitches) and finish with 1 edge stitch. Happy knitting!

Drops 74-14 Lovely pattern but pattern one is an offset chart. Do I need to knit a normal stitch before I begin the inset rows and after I finish an inset row? Otherwise the pattern doesn't look right. Thank you.
07.02.2024 - 07:38DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Roxburght, the squares are displaced due to graphic reasons, but the stitches will be worked the one over each other, so just read diagram from the right towards the left from RS and from the left towards the right from WS. Happy knitting!

I'm new to following a knitting diagram. I love pattern DROPS 74-14 but am confused by Diagram A1. There are 12 stitches and 8 rows. Why are the rows "uneven" on the edges? E.g., Rows 3 and 4 and 7 and 8 jut out on the left side of the Diagram. I understand I read right to left on row 1 and then left to right on row 2 and so on. Thank you!
27.04.2023 - 23:01DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lindy, because you will alternately work 3 sts together and 3 sts in the same stitch, that's why there is one extra stitch/one stitch less on some rows, but you should always keep the same number of stitches repeating this pattern. Happy knitting!

Buongiorno Cecilia.

Buon lavoro!

DROPS Short Wide Pullover in Ribbon

Gauge: 14 sts on larger needles in Pattern 1 = 10 cm in width. Pattern 2 must be knit on smaller needles to obtain the same gauge. Knitting tip: Ribbon tends to twist when knit. For best results, untwist the yarn as you go along. Measuring tips: Due to the weight of the yarn, the pattern pulls in – make all measurements with the garment held up. Pattern 1: See chart. The pattern is seen from the wrong side. Pattern 2: As seen from RS: * 2 rows stockinette st, 1 row reverse stockinette st (= P on RS, K on WS) *, repeat from * - *. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Garter st, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl.* Repeat from * - *. FRONT Cast on 82-86-90-94-98 sts on smaller needles. Knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and Pattern 1. When the piece measures 25-26-27-28-29 cm dec 1 st at each side = 80-84-88-92-96 sts (this is the beginning of armhole). At the same time change to smaller needles and knit Pattern 2 to finished dimensions. When the piece measures 36-37-39-40-42 cm bind off the center 12 sts for the neck. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 3 times = 29-31-33-35-37 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 41-43-45-47-49 cm. BACK Cast on and knit the same as the front. Dec 1 st for armhole as on front and continue in Pattern 2 until the piece measures 39-41-43-45-47 cm. Now bind off the center 20 sts for the neck. Then bind off 1 st at each neck edge on the next row = 29-31-33-35-37 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 41-43-45-47-49 cm. SLEEVE Sew shoulder seams. Pick up 50-54-58-62-66 sts (multiple of 4 + 2 sts) around armhole on larger needles with Ribbon – start where Pattern 2 starts on the body. Knit Pattern 1, but do not knit 1 edge st at each side in the pattern. When sleeve measures approx. 44-43-43-42-41 cm change to smaller needles, knit 4 rows garter st, bind off. ASSEMBLY Pick up approx. 52-60 sts around the neck on smaller short circular needles. Knit 4 rows garter st, bind off. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. |
