Knitting Gauge: 8 sts x 11 rows on needles size 12 mm in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. Measurement tips: It is recommended, because of the weight in the yarn, that all measurements are made whilst the garment is hanging, or else the garment may end up being too long. The cardigan is knitted in stocking sts and assembled with the purl side as the right side! Back piece: Cast on 28-30-34-38-44 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side – all seam sts are knitted in garter st) on needles size 12 in Fox. Knit 6 rows in garter sts and continue in stocking sts. Remember to check your knitting gauge! When piece measures 15-15-15-15-25 cm inc 1 st each side. Repeat the inc when piece measures 28 cm, but only for size S, M, L & XL (you only inc once for size XXL) = 32-34-38-42-46 sts. When piece measures 36-37-38-39-40 cm - remember the measurement tips - bind off for armhole each side on every other row as follows: 2 sts 1-1-1-2-2 times, 1 st 0-0-2-1-2 times = 28-30-30-32-34 sts. When piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm bind off the centre 8-8-8-10-10 sts for collar = 10-11-11-11-12 sts left on each shoulder piece. Bind off on the next row, the piece now measures 55-57-59-61-63 cm. Right front: Cast on 11-12-14-16-19 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side and 3 edge sts centre front, knitted in garter st) on needles size 12 with Fox. Knit 6 rows in garter sts and continue in stocking sts. At the same time after the 1st row of garter sts inc towards mid front on every other row 1 st a total of 4 times = 15-16-18-20-23 sts (inc before the edge sts as follows: pick up thread in between sts, turn the thread and knit it). Continue to knit in stocking sts. When piece measures 15 cm inc. 1 st at the side as described for back piece. Repeat the inc when piece measures 28 cm but only for size S, M, L & XL (you only inc once for size XXL) = 17-18-20-22-24 sts. When piece measures 36-37-38-39-40 cm - remember the measurement tips- bind off for armhole at the side on every other row as follows: 2 sts 1-1-1-2-2 times, 1 st 0-0-2-1-2 times = 15-16-16-17-18 sts. When piece measures 55-57-59-61-63 cm bind off outer 10-11-11-11-12 sts. at the side for shoulder. Continue the collar on the remaining 5-5-5-6-6 sts. Knit the centre 3 sts in garter sts and the remaining sts in stocking sts. When the collar measures 5-5-5-6-6 cm (slightly stretched) put the sts on a thread. Left front: Knit as right front, but reverse. Sleeve: Cast on 24-24-26-26-26 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side) on needles size 12 with Fox. Knit 6 rows in garter and continue in stocking sts. At the same time on the 1st row of stocking sts dec 4 sts evenly on row = 20-20-22-22-22 sts. When sleeve measures 15 cm inc 1 st each side on every 16-11-10-8-6 cm a total of 3-4-4-5-6 times = 26-28-30-32-34 sts. When sleeve measures 51-51-49-49-48 cm bind off for the sleeve cap each side on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 0-0-1-1-1 time. Continue to bind off 2 sts each side until the piece measures 55 cm. Then bind off 3 sts each side. On next row, bind off the remaining sts. The sleeve now measures approx. 57 cm in all sizes. Knit the other sleeve. Assembly: Remember the purl side is the right side. Sew shoulders seams. Collar: Sew the collar together in the middle with “invisible” knitting stitches. Sew the collar to the edge of the back of the neck. Set in the sleeves. Finally sew sleeve and sides seams together. Crochet edge: Crochet with hook size 7 in Snow along the whole edge - back as well as front and along the edge of the sleeves. Crochet as follows: 1st row: 1 dc in 1st st, *4 ch, 1 tr in 2nd ch (=1 “picot”), skip 2 cm, 1 dc in next st*, repeat from *-*and finish with a “picot” and 1 sl st in the first dc at beginning of row. 2nd row: sl st to the top of 1st picot from row 1, 1 dc in the picot, *1 “picot”, 1 dc in the top of the next “picot” from 1st row*, repeat from *-* and finish with a “picot” and 1 sl st in the first dc at beginning of row. The cardigan can be held together with a pin, a kilt pin or a brooch. |
