MISTAKE in the pattern in English UK: work single crochet instead of (what the pattern says:) double crochet!
08.12.2020 - 21:24DROPS Design answered:
Dear Carolin, when you are working an English crochet pattern, always make sure you choose the appropriate language, a double crochet in UK-terms is a single crochet in US-terms - read more here. Happy crocheting!

Dear Marte. You are wrong. This rainbow has nothing to do with the birth of Son and the bow of the Covenant that The Creator made with Noah. This rainbow is the opposite of the rules that are in the Covenant.

What a brilliant Christmas ornament! Anyone with a passing knowledge of the Bible knows that the rainbow symbolizes His promise to never punish all life on earth again, like He did in the story of Noah, so instead He sent his Son, which is why we celebrate Christmas! I will make them for myself, and for all my LGBTQ friends, so they can have one more symbol of LOVE!

------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- RAINBOW – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round as an open circle, then folded. The outer-edge of the circle is crocheted together and the middle sewn together. When increasing stitches it is important the increases are not directly above each other to give the rainbow an arched shape. RAINBOW: Using crochet hook size 3 mm work 24 chain stitches with dark purple and form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Then work in the round as follows: ROUND 1: Work 1 double crochet in each chain stitch, change to royal blue and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in first stitch = 24 double crochets. ROUND 2. Work double crochets and increase 8 stitches evenly spaced on the round, change to opal green and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in first stitch = 32 double crochets. ROUND 3: Work double crochets and increase 8 stitches evenly spaced on the round, change to mustard and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in first stitch = 40 double crochets. ROUND 4: Work double crochets and increase 8 stitches evenly spaced on the round, change to cerise and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in first stitch = 48 double crochets. ROUND 5: Work double crochets and increase 8 stitches evenly spaced on the round, change to red and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in first stitch = 56 double crochets. ASSEMBLY: Fold the piece double, wrong side to wrong side. Now crochet a row of double crochets through both layers as follows: Work double crochets through both stitch loops and increase 4 double crochets evenly spaced on the row = 60 double crochets. Cut and fasten the strands. Use a strand of dark purple and divide it in 2 lengthwise (so you get a thinner strand), sew together the chain stitches on both layers. LOOP: Cut a strand of red of approx. 14 cm, pull it through the middle of the last row with red. Make sure the rainbow hangs nicely before tying a knot on the strand. |
