Hi MA Wai-fong, you are correct, it means *5 sts in stocking st, 5 sts of garter sts*.

About the Rib, it states "*K5 sts, 5 sts of garter sts*, and repeat * - *". Does the "K5 sts" here mean "K5 sts in stocking sts" (i.e. K5 sts on the first row and P5 sts on the second row)?

DROPS 101-15 |

Knitting tension: 21 sts x 28 rows on needles size 4 mm in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. Garter sts: K back and forth on all rows. Stocking st: K on rows from RS, P on rows from WS. Rib: *5 sts of stocking st, 5 sts of garter sts*, repeat from *-*. Decreasing tips (apply for the neck shape): All dec. are done from the RS. The jersey is knitted so the Purl side is the RS this means all dec. are then done from the purl side. Dec. as follows after 2 stocking sts: P2 tog. Dec. as follows before 2 stocking sts: P2 twisted tog. (knit in the back part of the sts instead of the front part). ____________________________________________________________________ Back piece: Cast on 86-94-104-114-128 sts (incl. of 1 edge st each side) on needles size 4 mm with Muskat. Knit 4 rows of garter sts. Continue in stocking sts until the piece measures 18-19-19-20-20 cm. Knit 1 row and adjust the number of sts to 82-92-102-112-122 sts. Continue in Rib – see explanation above – with 1 edge st each side. Continue until the piece measures 28-29-30-31-32 cm. Then continue in stocking sts with the purl side as the RS until finish, at the same time on the first row inc. the number of sts to 86-94-104-114-128 sts. When the piece measures 41-43-45-47-49 cm cast off 3 sts each side for the armholes. Continue to cast off on every other row as follows: 3 sts 0-0-0-1-1 times, 2 sts 0-1-3-3-5 times and 1 st 2-2-2-3-4 times = 76-80-82-84-88 sts. Continue in stocking sts (purl side =RS) until the piece measures 56-59-62-65-68 cm. Knit in garter sts over the mid 40-42-42-44-44 sts (knit the other sts as before). Continue this way until the piece measures 57-60-63-66-69 cm and cast off the mid 32-34-34-36-36 sts for the neck. Continue to cast off 1 st towards each neck side – read decreasing tips – on every other row: 2 times = 20-21-22-22-24 sts left for each shoulder. Knit until the piece measures 60-63-66-69-72 cm and cast off loosely. Front piece: Cast on and knit as back piece, at the same time when the piece measures 41-44-47-49-52 cm knit in garter sts over the mid 10 sts. After 2 rows split the work into 2 pieces at the mid front and finish each side separately (5 sts of garter sts each side of the neck). Left front: Continue to knit until the piece measures 51-54-57-59-62 cm. Then knit 4 rows of garter sts over the 15-16-16-17-17 sts towards the mid front (knit other sts as before) On the following row cast off 13-14-14-15-15 sts towards the mid front of the neck. Continue to dec. 1 st at the neck side on every other row – see decreasing tips: 5 times = 20-21-22-22-24 sts left for the shoulder. Knit until the piece measures 60-63-66-69-70 cm and cast off loosely. Right front: Knit as left front but reverse. Sleeve: Cast on 56-56-56-58-58 sts (incl. of 1 edge st each side) on needles size 4 mm with Muskat. Knit 4 rows of garter sts – see explanation above. Continue in stocking sts with the knitted side as the RS. At the same time when the piece measures 2 cm inc. 1 st each side on every 2 cm a total of 3-3-3-2-2 times = 62 sts. When the piece measures 7-7-8-8-8 cm continue in Rib with 1 edge st each side – see explanation above. Continue as follows until the piece measures 17-18-19-19-20 cm. Then knit in stocking sts with the purl side as the RS until finish measures. At the same time on the 1st row after the Rib inc. 1 st each side = 64 sts. Continue to inc. 1 st each side on every 7-3.5-3-2-1.5 cm a total of 4-7-9-11-15 times = 72-78-82-86-94 sts. When the piece measures 49-48-48-47-46 cm cast off for the sleeve cap each side on every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3-3-4-4-5 times and 1 st 2-2-2-4-3 times. Continue to cast off 2 sts each side until the piece measures 55-55-56-56-56 cm, and then cast off 4 sts each side 1 time. Cast off remaining sts when the piece measures approx. 56-56-57-57-57 cm. Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the sleeve and the side seams inside the edge st. |
