I'm having trouble understanding the sleeve pattern on this garment. The pattern says to cast on 30 stitches, then increase each side by 1 sts every 2.5 cm for 12 repeats. By my math, that should be 54 stitches total, the original 30, plus 12 on each side. The pattern says I should have 62 stitches. Where are the extra 8 stitches coming from?

Dear Robin, there was a mistake in the number of stitches to cast on; you should cast on 38 sts (instead of 30) so that pattern can fit all stitches + increase 2 sts 12 times = 62 sts. Happy knitting!

Why are most/all your knitting patterns in chart form? Knitting is supposed to be relaxing yet having to concentrate and read a chart takes a lot of effort as opposed to reading instructions. Congratulation though, you have some beautiful patterns that I unfortunately do not access.

Dear Mrs Craig, The DROPS patterns are knitted and crocheted by thousands and thousands of people around the world. We understand however that in certain countries, with different knitting/crochet traditions than Scandinavia, our patterns might be written in a way that differs from what some are used to. But of course we want everyone to understand our patterns, so that’s why we have created an extensive library of tutorial videos as well as step by step lessons that explain how to follow the techniques we use and how to read the diagrams in our patterns. Give them a try!

I am making this jacket - believe there may be an error - or i may be confused. In the pattern for a Large Cable, where 12 stitches are to be used, row 2 only uses 10 stitches. Can you please say where the other two stitches are to be used?
26.01.2014 - 16:38DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Kanwar, you are correct, 2 sts were missing on row 2, correction has been made now. Thank you, Happy knitting!
