05.09.2023 - 12:23DROPS Design answered:
Hei Hilde. Nei. Luen strikkes i riller. Forklaring på: RILLE (strikkes rundt): 1 rille = 2 omganger, dvs strikk 1 omgang rett og 1 omgang vrang. mvh DROPS Design

If you decrease 8 stitches every other round for 4 times, that decreases overall 32 stitches, making it impossible? or is there something I am missing
17.07.2023 - 16:17DROPS Design answered:
Hi Julia, you have 124-128 sts and place markers. In every round you will decrease 8 stitches: 12 times x 8 sts= 96 sts decreased and you will have 28 or 32 sts on your needle/neddles (it depends on your size). You may remove markers. Then you reduce a half of all the stitches by working all stitches together 2 and 2. On next round you do the same = 7-8 stitches remain. Happy knitting!

Pozdrawiamy!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. DECREASE TIP (top of hat): All decreases are worked on a knitted round. After the marker-stitch: Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. Before the marker-stitch: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker-stitch, knit 2 together. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, bottom up. First you work a double edge in rib, then garter stitch to finished length. Change to double pointed needles when necessary while decreasing at the top of the hat. HAT: Cast on, a little loosely, 168-172 stitches with short circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Baby Merino. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 11 cm. Fold the piece double to the wrong side and continue the rib at the same time as every 8th-4th stitch is worked with its respective stitch on the cast-on edge. Continue the rib for a further 5 cm. Knit 1 round where you decrease 44 stitches evenly spaced = 124-128 stitches. Continue with GARTER STITCH – read description above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 21-22 cm from the folded edge at the bottom of the hat, insert 1 marker in each 31st-32nd stitch on the round (4 markers). Continue with garter stitch. AT THE SAME TIME decrease 1 stitch on each side of all the markers – read DECREASE TIP (= 8 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 4th round a total of 8 times, then every 2nd round 4 times = 28-32 stitches. On the next knitted round, knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 14-16 stitches. Repeat on next round = 7-8 stitches. Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. 29-30 cm from the folded edge at the bottom of the hat. Fold up the bottom 5 cm. |
