FILLING TIP: Gradually fill some cotton wool in the animal when working. CROCHET TIP: Beg every dc round with 1 ch (this does not replace first dc) and finish with 1 sl st in first dc from beg of round. Turn every dc row with 1 ch - this ch does not replace first dc on row. DECREASE TIP: Dec 1 dc by working 2 sts tog. This is done as follows: Insert hook in first st and pull thread through, insert hook in next st and pull thread through, make 1 YO and pull thread through all 3 sts on hook. ---------------------------------------------------------- SMALL DINOSAUR: Worked from the top of head, down the neck, along the body and out to the tail. Work the legs separately and fasten. Work spikes at the end. READ FILLING TIP! HEAD, BODY AND TAIL: Work 4 ch with army green on hook size 3 mm and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. READ CROCHET TIP! ROUND 1: Work 6 dc in ch-ring. ROUND 2: * Work 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 9 dc. ROUND 3: * Work 1 dc in each of the first 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 12 dc. Turn piece and work back from WS. ROW 4-6: Work 3 rows with 1 dc in every dc back and forth (= opening for snout, which is worked later). ROUND 7: Now work in the round again (insert 1 marker at beg of round). Work the first 2 dc tog – SEE DECREASE, then 1 dc in each of the next 8 dc and work the last 2 dc tog = 10 dc. ROUND 8-14: Work 1 dc in every dc in the round without finishing every round, then work 1 dc in each of the first 5 sts to end up mid on top of neck - now rounds beg her. ROUND 15: 1 dc in each of the first 3 dc, 2 dc in each of the next 4 dc, 1 dc in each of the last 3 dc = 14 dc. ROUND 16: Work the first 2 dc tog, then 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, 2 dc in each of the next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, and work the last 2 dc tog = 16 dc. ROUND 17: Work 1 dc in each of the first 14 dc, turn with 1 ch. Then work back and forth a piece for chest. ROW 18 (WS): Skip the first 2 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 11 dc, turn with 1 ch. ROW 19 (RS): Skip the first 2 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 8 dc, turn with 1 ch. ROW 20 (WS): Skip the first 2 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, turn with 1 ch. ROUND 21: Now work in the round again - work dc around the entire opening - inc evenly so that there are 20 dc in total, then work until mid under belly. ROUND 22: Work 1 dc in every dc but in 2 dc mid on top of back work 2 dc = 22 dc – insert 1 marker in the middle of these dc. ROUND 23-25: Work 1 dc in every dc. ROUND 26-29: Work 1 dc in every dc but dec 1 st on each side of marker mid on top of back (i.e. dec 2 sts on every round). After 29th round 14 dc remain. ROUND 30-33: Work 1 dc in every st but dec 1 st mid on top of back (dec alternately before and after marker). After 33rd round 10 dc remain. ROUND 34-36: Work 1 dc in every dc. ROUND 37-42: Work 1 dc in every dc but dec 1 dc mid under tail on all rounds. After round 42 there are 4 sts remaining. Cut the thread, baste the yarn end around the opening, tighten tog and fasten. SNOUT: Work 10 dc with army green around the opening at the front of head. Work 1 round with 1 dc in every dc, then 1 round where all dc are worked tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread, put some cotton wool in snout, baste the yarn end around the opening, tighten tog and fasten. LEG: Work 4 ch with army green and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: Work 5 dc in ch-ring. ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc = 10 dc. ROUND 3-6: Work 1 dc in every dc, fasten off. Work a total of 4 legs like this. Fill some cotton wool in them and sew them to the underside of body. SPIKES: Work spikes on the back with lime on hook size 3 mm as follows: Work 1 sl st at the tip of tail, * work 3 ch, in the first ch work 1 tr, skip approx. 1 cm and work 1 dc *, repeat from *-* until where tail beg. Continue to work as follows: * 3 ch, skip approx. 1 cm and work 1 dc *, repeat until mid back of head and finish with 1 sl st. Fasten off. Embroider eyes and mouth with black. ---------------------------------------------------------- LARGE DINOSAUR: Work as small dinosaur, but on hook size 4 mm with Paris. Head, body and tail are worked with light purple. Snout, legs and spikes are worked with powder pink. |
