I made loads of these for little Christmas presents - all different weights of yarn and hook sizes, they all seem to turn out really well. Just make sure they are the right length to tie nicely! Thank you Drops pattern people xx

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work at the back of the crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 treble crochet/double crochet is wide. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Remember to read the diagrams from right to left when working from right side and from left to right when working from wrong side. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 treble crochet by working 2 treble crochets together as follows: Work 1 treble crochet in next to last stitch on row but wait with last yarn over and pull through, work 1 treble crochet in last stitch on row but now pull last yarn over through all 3 loops on hook (= 1 treble crochet decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked back and forth. SHAWL: Work 4 CHAIN STITCHES - read explanation above, on hook size 5 mm with DROPS Air. Work PATTERN – see explanation above and work as follows: ROW 1: Work A.1, i.e. work 1 treble crochet in 4th chain stitch from hook (the 3 chain stitches to turn with equals first treble crochet on first row), turn and follows diagram back and forth like this, i.e. increase 1 stitch on every 3rd row. When A.1 has been worked, continue pattern and increase the same way, i.e. continue pattern as shown in diagram A.2 to A.4, i.e. work first row as follows from wrong side: Work A.4 in the first 2 stitches on row, work A.3 until 2 stitches remain, work A.2 in the last 2 stitches on row - AT THE SAME TIME continue increase every 3rd row - alternately at the end and beginning of row. Work like this until there are 16 stitches. Then work A.2 to A.4 back and forth over these 16 stitches without increase. Remember to follow the crochet tension! Insert 1 marker when piece measures approx. 54 cm (= middle of shawl) - adjust to insert marker after 6th row in diagram - the pattern will be more symmetrical from the middle. Work the same length without increases after marker as before marker. Then decrease 1 treble crochet in every 3rd row alternately in right and left side of piece - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this until 2 stitches remain on row (continue pattern A.3 as far as possible, then work treble crochets back and forth over all stitches). Cut and fasten strands - shawl measures approx. 108 cm from tip to tip. |
