------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. INCREASE TIP (for sleeves): Increase on each side of the marker-stitch (1 knitted stitch);: Make 1 yarn over after the marker-stitch, work to the end of the round and make 1 yarn over before the marker-stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted into pattern A.1. The marker-stitch is always knitted. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The body is worked in the round with circular needle as far as the armholes, then divided and the front and back pieces finished separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round as far as the sleeve cap, then finished back and forth with short circular needle/double pointed needles. The neck is worked in the round with short circular needle to finish. BODY: Cast on 176-192-204-220-232-248 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Merino Extra Fine or DROPS Fiesta. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm. Work 2 ridges – read GARTER STITCH above, and decrease 10-14-14-18-18-22 stitches evenly on the first round = 166-178-190-202-214-226 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round and 1 marker-thread after 83-89-95-101-107-113 stitches = sides. Work pattern as follows: A.1 over the first 7-10-13-16-19-22 stitches (finishing with the first stitch in A.1), A.2, A.3, A.4, A.3, A.2 (70 mid-pattern stitches), A.1 over the next 13-19-25-31-37-43 stitches (finishing with the first stitch in A.1), A.2, A.3, A.4, A.3, A.2 (70 mid-pattern stitches), work A.1 over the last 6-9-12-15-18-21 stitches. Continue this pattern onwards. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the body measures 22-25-28-31-34-36 cm – and the next round is an odd row in the patterns, work as follows: Cast off the first 5-8-9-10-11-12 stitches, work 74-74-78-82-86-90 stitches as before, cast off the next 9-15-17-19-21-23 stitches, work 74-74-78-82-86-90 stitches as before, cast off the last 4-7-8-9-10-11 stitches. Place the first 74-74-78-82-86-90 stitches on a stitch holder for the front piece. BACK PIECE: = 74-74-78-82-86-90 stitches. Continue the pattern back and forth until the piece measures 34-38-42-46-50-53 cm, then decrease 6 stitches evenly over the 34 middle stitches = 68-68-72-76-80-84 stitches. On the next row cast off the middle 24-24-28-30-30-32 stitches for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately. On the next row from the neck cast off 1 stitch = 21-21-21-22-24-25 stitches. Continue the pattern until the piece measures 35-39-43-47-51-54 cm. Now decrease 2 stitches over the cable in A.2 = 19-19-19-20-22-23 stitches. Cast off when the piece measures 36-40-44-48-52-55 cm. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: Place the 74-74-78-82-86-90 stitches from the stitch holder back on circular needle size 4 mm. Continue the pattern back and forth until the piece 32-35-39-42-46-48 cm. Decrease 6 stitches evenly over the 34 stitches = 68-68-72-76-80-84 stitches. On the next row place the middle 16-16-20-22-22-24 stitches on a stitch holder for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately. NOTE! You no longer work the cable pattern in A.4, the remaining stitches in A.4 are purled from the right side and knitted from the wrong side. Continue and cast off from the neckline as follows: 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 3 times = 21-21-21-22-24-25 stitches. SLEEVES: The sleeves are worked bottom up, first with double pointed needles, changing to short circular needle when there are enough stitches. Cast on 48-50-54-56-58-60 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and DROPS Merino Extra Fine. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm. Work 2 ridges and decrease 3-2-3-2-4-4 stitches evenly on the first round = 45-48-51-54-54-56 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm, work A.1 in the round - insert 1 marker in the first knitted stitch on the round and allow it to follow your work onwards. When the sleeve measures 6 cm from the cast-on edge, increase on each side of the marker-stitch - read INCREASE TIP. Continue A.1 and increase like this every 1½-2-2-2½-2-2½ cm a total of 12-12-12-14-15-17 times = 69-72-75-82-84-90 stitches. When the sleeve measures 25-29-33-37-40-45 cm, cast off the marker-stitch and continue the pattern back and forth until the sleeve measures 26-32-36-40-44-49 cm (a split of 1-3-3-3-4-4 cm). Cast off. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeve cap to the armhole and the split to the bottom of the armhole – see sketch. NECK: Start from the right side with short circular needle size 3 mm. Knit up 64 to 90 stitches (including the stitches from the stitch holder). The stitch count should be divisible by 2. Work 2 ridges in the round. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) until the neck measures 8½ cm. Cast off with rib. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic. |
