Hi I am doing drops Icing on the Cake.do u have a video for centering the pattern for sleeves on this particular design. I have read the lesson for this but I still do not understand.
12.06.2023 - 20:46DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Mccoy, we only have the lesson explaining how to center a diagram; on the sleeve, the stitch with the black triangle in A.1/A.2 should be the one with the marker on top of sleeve; then count backwards to get the beg of the repeat (3 sts before the stitch with the marker), then count 8 sts towards the right for each new repeat until you reach the beg of the round, count the number of sts remaining between the last repeat and the beg of the round and start the round with this number of stitches, let's say there are 3 sts then you will start the round with the last 3 stitches of the round, then repeat the diagram to the end of the round. Happy knitting!

Hi. I am doing drops. icing on the cake children 44-13. Begining sleeve pattern says to place 1 repeat in middle on top sleeve. Do not understand what it means.
08.06.2023 - 20:53DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Mccoy, this means that the stitch with the black triangle in diagrams A.1 and A.2 should be the one with the marker mid on top of sleeve. In this lesson, you will be explained how to center a diagram. Happy knitting!

Witam.

09.05.2023 - 16:49DROPS Design answered:
Bon tricot!

Hi, I’m very confused about the sleeve part. Does the marker stitch is the one I put on the beginning the round? Or is it the one I put on the middle? Also from the pattern, first row is k,p,k,p, is it meant on the end of round and beginning of the round would be k,k,p? Is that right? Thank hou
28.10.2022 - 11:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Yetta, there are 2 markers: one at the beginning of the round (between 2 sts) and one on middle on top of sleeve. When working pattern, the stitch with the marker on top of sleeve should be the stitch with the black triangle in diagram - this lesson might help you figuring out how to center the diagram on top of sleeve and how to start the rounds. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. PATTERN BODY: Work A.1 for 2-3-3-3-4-4 cm. Then A.2 (= 7 cm in height). Then work A.1 for 5-7-9-9-10-13 cm. Now work as follows: SIZES 2 and 3/4 years: Work A.3. SIZES 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12 years: Work A.4. At the same time the yoke is divided for the body and sleeves as described in the text. After the division, complete A.3/A.4. The piece measures approx. 32-35-43-43-46-49 cm. Then work A.1 to finished length (approx. 4-5-5-5-6-6 cm) at the same time as you cast off for the neck as described in the text. PATTERN SLEEVES: Place 1 repeat in the middle on top of sleeve. Work A.1 for 3-3-3-3-5-5 cm. Then A.2 (= 7 cm in height). Work A.1 for 7-11-14-17-20-24 cm, then A.2 to finished length. INCREASE TIP (for sleeves): Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker, 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches into the pattern. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, bottom up, as far as the armholes then the back and front pieces are finished separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, bottom up. The neck is worked to finish. BODY: Cast on 124-132-140-152-160-168 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and DROPS Alaska. Work rib in the round (1 twisted knit, purl 1) for 3-3-4-4-5-5 cm. Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Knit 1 round and decrease 20-20-20-24-24-24 stitches evenly spaced = 104-112-120-128-136-144 stitches. Now work PATTERN BODY – read description above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! At the same time, when the piece measures 22-25-28-31-34-36 cm, divide at the armholes as follows: Keep the first 52-56-60-64-68-72 stitches on the needle and place the remaining 52-56-60-64-68-72 stitches on a thread/extra needle. The front and back pieces are finished separately. BACK PIECE: = 52-56-60-64-68-72 stitches. Continue with PATTERN BODY – read description above. When the piece measures 34-38-41-45-48-51 cm, cast off the middle 20-22-24-24-24-26 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off at the beginning of each row from the neck as follows: 1 stitch 2 times = 14-15-16-18-20-21 stitches on the shoulder. Work until the piece measures 36-40-44-48-52-55 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 52-56-60-64-68-72 stitches. Continue with PATTERN BODY. When the piece measures 32-36-39-43-46-49 cm, place the middle 12-14-16-16-16-18 stitches on a thread for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off at the beginning of each row from the neck as follows: 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 2 times = 14-15-16-18-20-21 stitches on the shoulder. Work until the piece measures 36-40-44-48-52-55 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 38-40-42-44-46-48 stitches with double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and DROPS Alaska. Work rib in the round (1 twisted knit, purl 1) for 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm and knit 1 round where you decrease 5-5-7-7-7-7 stitches evenly spaced = 33-35-35-37-39-41 stitches. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round = mid-under sleeve. Allow the marker to follow your work onwards; it is used when increasing under the sleeve. Insert another marker in the middle stitch on the round. Work PATTERN SLEEVES – read description above – the marker-stitch should match the stitch marked in the diagrams – count out from this stitch where the pattern needs to start under the sleeve. When the sleeve measures 7-7-8-7-7-7 cm increase 2 stitches under the sleeve – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 2½-3-3-3½-3½-3½ cm a total of 8-8-9-10-11-12 times = 49-51-53-57-61-65 stitches. When the sleeve measures 28-32-35-40-44-48 cm knit 1 round. Cast off. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeves to the body in the outermost stitch so the seam is flat. NECK: Start from the right side by one shoulder seam and knit up 64 to 82 stitches round the neck (including the stitches from the thread) using short circular needle size 3.5 mm (stitch-number divisible by 2). Work rib in the round (1 twisted knit, purl 1) for 6-6-7-7-8-8 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important the seam is elastic. |
