Clue #3 - Flower Square 3 Marigold

Here's the 3rd clue for our Mystery Blanket CAL in an easy step by step. You can also find two videos for the whole clue at the bottom of this lesson!

Work 5 ch on hook size 3.0 mm/C or D with pink.

Form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.

ROUND 1: Work 1 ch (= 1st sc), 11 sc in ch-ring.

ROUND 1: Finish with 1 sl st in first sc on round - READ COLOR CHANGE = 12 sc. Cut the yarn.

COLOR CHANGE:

When changing color work as follows: Before last pull through of last loop on hook, switch color, pull the last loop on hook through with the new color.

ROUND 2: Switch to turquoise and work 1 ch (= 1st sc), 1 sc in 1st sc.

ROUND 2: * Work ch 6, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc*, repeat from *-* 5 more times, but skip last sc.

ROUND 2: Finish with 1 sc in first sc on round = 6 ch-spaces.

ROUND 3: Work 1 sl st around first ch-space. Work in each ch-space: * 1 sc, 1 dc, 5 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc *, repeat from *-* the entire round.

ROUND 3: Finish with 1 sl st in 1st sc on round - READ COLOR CHANGE = 6 leaves. Cut the yarn. The flower is done. Now work the square:

ROUND 1: Switch to white and turn.

ROUND 1: From WS work 1 sl st in front loop of 1st sc from 2nd round of flower.

ROUND 1: = 1 sl st in front loop of 1st dc from 2nd round of flower.

ROUND 1: Work * ch 4, 1 sl st in front loop of 1st sc in next sc group from 2nd round of flower *, repeat *-* the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in 1st sl st on beg of round = 6 ch-spaces.

ROUND 2: Turn piece. From RS 1 sl st in first ch-space, 3 ch (= 1 dc), 3 dc in same ch-space.

ROUND 2: Work * (2 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next ch-space, (4 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-space *, 4 dc in next ch-space repeat from *-* 1 more time, and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round. = 32 dc, 4 ch-spaces.

ROUND 3: 3 ch (= 1 dc), work 1 dc in every dc until 2 ch-space in each corner, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner around the entire round.

ROUND 3: Finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round = 48 dc, 4 ch-spaces.

ROUND 4: 3 ch (= 1 dc), work 1 dc in every dc until 2 ch-space in each corner, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner around the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round = 64 dc, 4 ch-spaces.

ROUND 5: 1 ch (= 1 sc), skip 1st dc, work 1 sc in every dc until 2 ch-space in each corner, work (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in each corner around entire round. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc from beg of round = 72 sc and 4 hdc around entire square. Cut the yarn.

Backside:

Finished!

One Marigold flower square finished, measuring approx 9,5 x 9,5 cm. Fasten off and work 5 squares in total the same way in the same colors - or use the colors you like.
