Magic circle crochet loop

Crochet squares, circles etc many times start with a ring of chains leaving a hole in the middle. Sometimes you don't want that and then this technique comes handy.
Hold on to tail and wrap the yarn around your left finger. Work sc (US)/dc (UK) around the yarn loop and the tail, when you have your desired number of sts, pull the tail to snug up the middle. Continue crochet around in the sts.
After half the video we show you how to start and work dc (US)/ tr (UK) around the ring.

In this DROPS video we show how you can crochet round and round without finishing each round. We have already crocheted a chain stitches row and start the video how to form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. In this DROPS video we show how to get a straight line running down the beginning/the end of the rounds. Work in the round alternately from the right and wrong side, turning the piece after each round. It you work round and round from the right side; the line at the beginning of the round is then slightly diagonal (see the sample patch on the right at the beginning of the video). We also work the piece in stripes and to get a neat transition when changing colours, we work the slip stitch at the end of the round in the new colour.
