1 pom pom is worked as follows:
Cut out two cardboard circles, 7 cm = 2 3/4” in diameter. Cut a large hole on the middle. Put the rings together and wind the yarn around both rings. The more yarn you use the more compact the pom pom will be (1 pom pom should weigh approx. 15 g when finished). Cut the strands in the middle between the cardboard rings. Be careful not to pull the strands out. Use a strand to bind around the middle of all the strands between the rings. Tighten the strand and tie tightly; make a knot approx 12 cm = 4 3/4” from the first knot so that you have a small loop (this loop is used in assembly). Trim the pom pom to make it even.

Made in the same way as the LARGE POM POM – read description above, but approx. 5 cm = 2” in diameter. 1 pom pom should weigh approx 8 g when finished.

The piece is made up of 35 pom poms in 2 different sizes. The Christmas tree consists of a green tree, yellow stars and red parcels. The pom poms are fastened around the retainer of a kitchen roll holder and around the open ring at the bottom. Read LARGE POM POM and SMALL POM POM above.

Work 8 large pom poms with yellow green, 9 large pom poms with lime and 10 large pom poms with olive.

Work 2 small pom poms with yellow. Work 1 large pom pom with yellow, but without tying the last knot (this is used in assembly).

Work 5 small pom poms with red, but without tying the last knot (this is used in assembly).

See sketch for assembly.
Mix the green pom poms on the tree and thread each loop over the retainer in the middle of the kitchen roll holder – see A in the sketch. Space them evenly upwards. Then thread the 2 small, yellow pom poms in the same way. Tie the large yellow pom pom tightly to the top of the retainer - see B in the sketch. Tie the 5 red pom poms evenly around the ring at the bottom of the holder – Tie them so that they sit close to the tree – see C in the sketch.

All measurements in charts are in cm.
