EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

-------------------------------------------------------

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
All rows are knitted (1 ridge = knit 2 rows).

DIAGRAM (for scarf):
Diagram A.1 shows the parts the scarf is made up of and which direction they are worked.

-------------------------------------------------------

START THE PIECE HERE:

-------------------------------------------------------

HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle and is sewn together mid back to finish.

HAT:
Cast on 80-84-88 stitches with 1 strand Delight and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) with circular needle size 4.5 mm
the whole piece is worked back and forth. Knit 1 row (= wrong side). Then work rib as follows:
From the right side: Knit 1, * purl 2, knit 2 *, work from *-* and finish with knit 1.
From the wrong side: Purl 1 * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* and finish with purl 1.

Work this rib until the piece measures 16 cm (the rib section will be folded in the middle), adjust so that the next row is from the right side (i.e. the first row of the piece is purled; this is important as the rib will be folded up on the right side to finish and then this row will be seen as a knitted row (stocking stitch)). Change to circular needle size 5 mm and continue in GARTER STITCH – see description above. Work until the piece measures approx. 26-27-28 cm from the cast-on edge. On the next row decrease 0-4-0 stitches evenly on row = 80-80-88 stitches. Insert 8 markers in the piece as follows: 1 marker is inserted after 5 stitches, the next 7 markers are inserted with 10-10-11 stitches between each and there are 5 stitches left on the row after the last marker. Knit 1 row.

Then decrease on every 2nd row as follows:
Row 1: Knit and decrease by knitting 2 stitches together before each marker = 8 stitches decreased.
Row 2: Knit.
Row 3: Knit and decrease by knitting 2 stitches together after each marker = 8 stitches decreased.
Row 4: Knit.
Repeat rows 1-4 a total of 4 times = 16-16-24 stitches on the needle.
SIZE L/XL: Repeat rows 1-2 one more time = 16 stitches on the needle.

ALL SIZES:
On the next row knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 8-8-8 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches a couple of times, tighten and fasten well. The piece measures approx. 31-32-33 cm.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew the hat together mid back; sew in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so that the seam is flat. Fold the rib border up, so that the first row on the rib is 1 row of stocking stitch. You can fasten the folded section in place with a couple of stitches on each side of the hat, if you wish.

SCARF – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle. The whole piece is knitted in one go, but you will work in parts which are then worked together. The piece is worked in GARTER STITCH – see description above. All yarn overs are knitted to leave holes.

SCARF:
Cast on 3 stitches with 1 strand Delight and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) with circular needle size 5 mm.

Work PART 1 as follows:

PART 1:
ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over and knit 1.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit.
ROW 3 (= right side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit until there is 1 stitch left, 1 yarn over and knit 1.
ROW 4 (= wrong side): Knit.

Work ROWS 3-4 like this until there are 69 stitches and 2 yarn overs on the row - the last row is ROW 3. Part 1 is finished, see diagram A.1 for overview.

Now work PART 2 as follows:

PART 2:
ROW 5 (= wrong side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, slip the next stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (this stitch will from now on be called the decrease-stitch). The remaining stitches on the left needle are not worked; leave them on the needle. Turn the piece.
ROW 6 (= right side): Knit.
ROW 7 (= wrong side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit to the decrease-stitch, slip this stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. The remaining stitches on the left needle are not worked; leave them on the needle. Turn the piece.
ROW 8 (= right side): Knit.

Work ROWS 7-8 until there are 35 stitches left on PART 1 after the last decrease-stitch (the last row is from the wrong side) and then knit the 35 stitches from PART 1 from the wrong side. Part 2 is finished; see diagram A.1 for overview.

Now work PART 3 as follows:

PART 3:
ROW 9 (= right side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit as far as the decrease-stitch, slip this stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. The remaining stitches on the left needle are not worked; leave them on the needle. Turn the piece.
ROW 10 (= wrong side): Knit.
Work ROWS 9-10 like this until there are 17 stitches left on part 2 after the last decrease-stitch (the last row is from the right side) and then knit the last 17 stitches from part 2 from the right side. Part 3 is finished; see diagram for overview.

Now work PART 4 as follows:

PART 4:
ROW 11 (= wrong side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit as far as the decrease-stitch, slip this stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. The remaining stitches on the left needle are not worked; leave them on the needle. Turn the piece.
ROW 12 (= right side): Knit.
Work ROWS 11-12 like this until there are 35 stitches left on part 3 after the last decrease-stitch (the last row is from the wrong side) and then knit the last 35 stitches from part 3 from the wrong side.

Work PART 3 and PART 4 alternately until the piece measures approx. 130 cm - measured in the middle of the piece and adjust so that the last part worked is part 3. Continue working ROWS 9-10 of PART 3 until there are no stitches left on PART 4, the next row is from the wrong side.

Now work PART 5 as follows:

PART 5:
ROW 13 (= wrong side): * Knit 1, 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. The remaining stitches on the left needle are not worked; leave them on the needle. Turn the piece.
ROW 14 (= right side): Knit.
ROW 15 (= wrong side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit as far as the decrease-stitch, slip this stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. The remaining stitches on the left needle are not worked; leave them on the needle. Turn the piece.
ROW 16 (= right side): Knit.
Work ROWS 14-16 until there are 35 stitches left on part 3 after the last decrease-stitch.
Now work as follows from the wrong side:

ROW 17 (= wrong side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 2 together and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted together stitches. Knit as far as the decrease-stitch, slip this stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. The remaining stitches on the left needle are not worked; leave them on the needle. Turn the piece.
ROW 18 (= right side): Knit.

Work ROWS 17-18 until there are 3 stitches left on part 3 after the last decrease-stitch.
Now work as follows from the wrong side:

ROW 19 (= wrong side): Knit 1, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, slip the decrease-stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. Turn the piece.
ROW 20 (= right side): Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, slip the decrease-stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (= 3 stitches on needle). Turn the piece and cast off the last stitches. Cut and fasten the strands.

Très joli modèle, auriez-vous d'autres suggestions de coloris ? Difficile sur un ordinateur d'apprécier le mélange des matières. Je suis très tentée par ce modèle, mais plus sur le bleu. Merci
