INFORMATION FOR THE PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round):
1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round.

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
1 ridge = Knit 2 rows.

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for your size.
The diagram shows all the rows in the pattern seen from the right side.
----------------------------------------------------------

SLIPPER:
The slipper is worked from top of leg and down. The leg with button-band is worked back and forth with circular needle. When the button-band is finished, work in the round with double pointed needles. Then work back and forth on top of foot. To finish, work in the round and down to mid under foot and sew together mid under foot to finish.

RIGHT SLIPPER:
LEG:
Cast on 39-42-45 stitches with circular needle size 6 mm and Eskimo. Work 3 RIDGES back and forth - see description above. Then knit 1 row where you increase 7-7-7 stitches evenly on row = 46-49-52 stitches. Purl 1 row. Then work pattern as follows from the right side: Work 3 stitches garter stitch (= band), work according to diagram A.1a over the next 6-6-9 stitches (= 2-2-3 repeats of 3 stitches), work A.1b (= 10-13-13 stitches), work A.1C over the next 24-24-24 stitches (= 8-8-8 repeats of 3 stitches) and 3 stitches garter stitch (= band) - read PATTERN above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue this pattern until piece measures 12-13-13 cm (adjust so that the next row is worked from the wrong side). Cast off the first 3 band stitches and continue the pattern as before to end of row = 43-46-49 stitches. Continue in the round with double pointed needles as follows: Work 9-9-12 stitches GARTER STITCH - see description above, A.1b over the next 10-13-13 stitches and 24-24-24 stitches garter stitch. Continue in the round according to this pattern until the piece measures 16-17-17 cm.

FOOT:
Place the first 9-9-12 stitches on a thread, keep the next 10-13-13 stitches on the needle, place the last 24-24-24 stitches on a thread. Pattern A.1b is continued as before, back and forth over the 10-13-13 stitches (= top piece), on the first row cast on 1 edge stitch in each side (edge stitch is worked in garter stitch) = 12-15-15 stitches. When the top piece measures 7-8½-10 cm cast off the 1 edge stitch in each side = 10-13-13 stitches. Then place the stitches from the threads back on circular needle and knit up 9-10-11 stitches on each side of the top piece (inside the 1 edge stitch) = 61-66-71 stitches on needle. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! Insert 1 marker mid front of toe and 1 marker mid back of heel - allow the markers to follow your work onwards. Continue in the round with garter stitch. When piece measures 2 cm knit 2 stitches together on each side of each marker. Decrease in this way every 2nd round (= 4 stitches less per round). Continue the decreases until piece measures 5-5-6 cm and cast off. Sew the seam under the foot in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so the seam is flat.

ASSEMBLY:
Lay the loose band under the other band and sew with a couple of neat stitches at the back. Sew on 3 ornamental buttons through both layers.

LEFT SLIPPER:
Cast on and work as for right slipper, but reversed so that the leg opening is in the opposite side.
