Pattern instructions

See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams show all the rows in the pattern seen from the right side.

The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles. Cast on 43-43-51 stitches with double pointed needles size 6 mm and Eskimo. Insert a marker thread at beginning of round. Work as follows: Purl 1, * knit 2 / purl 2 *, repeat from *-* over a total of 12-12-16 stitches, knit 2, A.1 (= 13 stitches), * knit 2 / purl 2 *, repeat from *-* over a total of 12-12-16 stitches, knit 2, purl 1. Continue this pattern until piece measures 6 cm. Then continue with A.2 over stitches in A.1, the other stitches are continued in rib as before. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!

Continue in the same way until piece measures 24-26-28 cm. Work as far as where A.2 starts. Now place all stitches apart from those in A.2 on a thread. Continue working back and forth according to A.2 and at the same time cast on 1 new edge stitch in each side of the 13-13-13 stitches = 15-15-15 stitches (= top piece). When the top piece measures 7-8.5-10 cm cast off the 1 edge stitch in each side from the right side = 13-13-13 stitches. Then knit up 12-16-16 stitches inside the 1 edge stitch along the side of the top piece, place stitches from the thread back on the needles and work over these stitches, then knit up 12-16-16 stitches inside the 1 edge stitch along the other side of the top piece = 67-75-83 stitches on the needles. Insert 1 marker thread mid front of toe and 1 marker thread mid back of heel. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! Continue in the round with rib as before over all stitches (work A.1 over A.2) until piece measures approx. 4-5-5 cm from the marker threads. Continue working in stocking stitch and knit 2 stitches together on each side of the markers every 2nd round (= 4 stitches less each round of decreases), continue the decreases until piece measures 7-8-9 cm from the marker threads. Cast off, fold the piece double and sew together the cast off edge. Sew in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so the seam is flat. Work 1 more slipper in the same way.

= knit from right side, purl from wrong side
= purl from right side, knit from wrong side
= place 2 stitches on cable needle in front of piece, knit 2 stitches, knit 2 stitches from cable needle
= place 2 stitches on cable needle behind piece, knit 2 stitches, knit 2 stitches from cable needle

How many balls or skeins of Eskimo yarn does it take to knit a pair of these Snow Boots? I can not find anywhere in the pattern to say how many balls of yarn to purchase to make these. Takk, Kat LeFevre

DROPS Design 25.04.2018 kl. 08:43:

Dear Mrs LeFevre, you will find materials required under header, ie 250 g in all sizes / 50 g a ball DROPS Eskimo = 5 balls are required in all sizes. Happy knitting!
